i think it's just less advertisements/signs on buildings and the fact there is 0 people around

the issue isnt really that its too realistic to actual dreary Japan, but moreso the fact that it looks like the early days of PS3 era games where they made everything look "real" without any sort of art direction whatsoever

it's the ue5 plastic effect, it's gonna get polished for sure

I think the monochrome actually works perfectly with the setting of it being the realm of the dead, because it makes you feel dead inside

Yaah alot of stuff from VS13 was put into Agito/Type-0 according to devs iirc

Basically lore for FFVS13 ended up in Agito/Type-0

Which makes sense cos the early interviews for FFVS13 plot and lore and background match up with what we got in Agito/Type-0

war between nations, the taking/destroying of their crystals etc

nah, versus 13 looked way more vibrant. even the verum rex trailer had more color to it

nah thats not how it is from what i remember growing up. 13, VS13, and Agito13 were all announced together. They were a big project Square had where they had a giant compendium of lore that was given to different devs and they could do their own takes on it. So they had overlapping things like L'Cie, fal'cie, etc but were not directly in the same universe. Agito 13 broke off and became Type-0 under slightly new direction, still kept most of the same ideas. Versus 13 was the one that got reworked a lot more into 15 and only had the bare minimum details remaining hence why it initially felt so barren and disconnected everywhere

so things "going from v13 to type-0" isnt necessarily wrong, but not exactly how it happened either

They were annouced together/around same time and were to be seperate universes that used the shared FNC mythos as their foundation. This remained true of Agito and FF13. FFVS13 ended up leaving the FNC franchise entirely as far as lore went and retained only thematic elements from it that were used in FFXV

Even then I almost feel like you can just change the names of stuff in 15 and it still works sort of not really but kind of in my own head
