  1. looks like they're trying to cash in their meme points and make this game an ironic success. only problem is it looks like a bland platformer that will be terrible. i wonder if they think all the Bubsy jokes are enough to make this thing successful.
  2. guys guys if you take the letters in "KINGDOM HEARTS 3" and rearrange them a bit, then add a few more letters, it spells "KINGDOM HEARTS 3 TRAILER AT E3 CONFIRMED" we've cracked the Nomura code
  3. well you make some good points. i'm still of the opinion that they should remain as they are mainly because of the way the series poorly shifts it's stance on what these characters deserve. on paper, Re:Coded's purpose in the story actually has some good weight to it. A journey meant to show that data can grow a heart, implying other things can grow hearts as well (i.e. Nobodies). I actually like that general idea. however i feel like the games handled this new revelation a bit poorly because of how KH2 so definitively sets up Roxas and Namine's ends as the best case scenario. i mean no one even bats an eye or raises an objection to it so we as players are led to believe this is the best they can hope for. it only really starts to become a tragic ending when we start to consider outside factors that weren't even relevant when the scene was written. things from Days and DDD weren't taken into consideration when KH2 was being written and that scene where Roxas and Namine disappear at the end shows it. i was never a fan of having them come back because when we were first introduced to Roxas in KH2 and after the prologue, we're left with the idea that Roxas is a Nobody and it was his fate to disappear and return to Sora. So there's the tragic bit. But that's until we get to the end and we learn he didn't truly disappear, and neither did Namine. we learn they can still exist within Sora and Kairi and this is where their tragic story is meant to turn into a more positive one. that was my main takeaway from their little story in KH2 and it's why i'm still against this idea that they deserve to come back. maybe if the game had implied that this had to be a temporary situation for them in order to retain their sense of self or whatever, and then later Sora would have to find a way to give them their own beings, it'd be easier to swallow. the more i think about it i actually like that. it certainly would have been a good plot thread to leave up to a future sequel, as by KH2 the series has some history with leaving the fates of certain characters up in the air until next time. so again, i think on paper i like the general idea behind why Roxas and Namine ought to come back, but i guess my problem is the way it's handled in the series. obviously Nomura probably wasn't thinking this far ahead when he wrote KH2 so he didn't think to add in a scene that implied Roxas and Namine would only temporarily be in Sora and Kairi. it just bugs me from a narrative perspective because we're told one thing definitively by one game and then a few games later we're told something different without any foreshadowing from before. TL;DR i'd be more ok with Roxas and Namine coming back if the series had done a better job setting up the fact that they deserved it, basically.
  4. i wasn't talking about whether or not characters can die in KH. and what's been hinted(?) at since BBS? characters dying or coming back? if you're talking about the secret ending then maybe you're talking about Ansem the Wise?
  5. well over the 4 years since the game was announced they haven't exactly shown that they're working to meet a certain level of expectations when it comes to sharing information about the game. another E3 with no show will only mean more upset fans.
  6. that's looking pretty good. congrats on doing more for the 15th anniversary than Square Enix
  7. technically Roxas and Namine already got their happy ending in KH2. Xion is the only one who got a tragic ending. the problem here is that the narrative never established that these characters should get a "second chance" and return until just recently, which makes this all seem very forced and pandering. at the end of KH2 we see Roxas and Namine embracing their fate. they willingly return to their Somebodies because they know they can continue to exist within them and be together. originally they believed they would fade into nothingness but were proven wrong. the last we see of them is them both smiling at each other. so KH2 doesn't paint their fate to be tragic in anyway and this is a satisfying conclusion to their story. they're happy with their fate. in KH2 we were told Nobodies weren't meant to exist and Roxas and Namine basically got the best case scenario for their situation. they were able to continue existing within Sora and Kairi. with Xion her only purpose was to give Days a plot. in-game i guess her purpose was to explain why it took a year to restore Sora's memories (even though we didn't need an explanation) and to give Roxas motivation for leaving the Organization (even though we didn't need an explanation for that either). There's really no need for her to come back as far as the story is concerned. she's served her purpose from a narrative perspective. the only reason they'll be coming back is to please the fans that can't accept it when a character they like dies/goes away.
  8. it's possible but i feel like for KH3 it would make more sense to drop that bombshell of a trailer during the press conference. KH3 is a big deal so having a surprise trailer during the Sony conference would get the most hype up imo i'd actually prefer they hold off on any trailer reveal until E3 because a new KH3 trailer should have a lot of hype and fanfare behind it. SE shouldn't just kick it out on the curb for us to find. it ought to get a nice reveal on stage.
  9. i mean at this point it's probably a good idea to assume any leaks regarding KH3 are fake
  10. i'll bet on Sony since they plan on doing a similar presentation to last year with the focus on the games. i thought that was a pretty good way to handle things. basically letting the games speak for themselves. plus it allowed for some fun reveals when you didn't know what was coming. i'm sure Nintendo will have some good stuff as well but i don't have a Switch and nowadays i rarely play my 3DS so who knows how invested i'll be in what they show off. more footage of the new Mario game would be great though. i'm interested to see what Microsoft does this year. it seems like they falling behind in terms of "must have games" for the Xbox One, so hopefully they'll bust out some stuff to grab peoples attention.
  11. i tried to forget all the time i spent on completing the command board but i'm pretty sure that in at least one game i just destroyed the AI players because of some lucky roll. might have gotten Captain Justice and just spammed triple dice over and over.
  12. i feel like the New 3DS part should have been the tip off that this was fake. i could see a Switch Port but is there any reason to port the 1st KH game to 3DS?
  13. E3 Reveal: Atlantica D23 Reveal: More Atlantica "Nomura: *laughs*"
  14. i probably won't do anything special. i think i'll just watch the giantbomb coverage of it as it helps to have some commentary going over the game reveals that aren't interesting to me.
  15. i like how the FFVII Remake suddenly escalated from being a remake of the original into a full blown trilogy/episodic release that will most likely conclude on the next generation of consoles. i don't think anyone would have really complained had SE just remade the original with it's turn based combat but just used some better looking graphics, maybe add one or two extra things like some secret bosses or whatever. makes me think of the Resident Evil Remake. it doesn't try to innovate the basic gameplay of the original drastically. it builds off of it and fine tunes it creating a much more entertaining experience. maybe that's a poor comparison but i don't get why SE couldn't have aimed for a remake like that. i guess they think turn-based games are a dying breed but even so, the fact that people want a remake of FFVII, a game with turn-based combat, ought to at least give them pause for thought.
  16. with KH3 i don't even see what the big deal is. hell we might as well assume it's going to be 3 years at the rate we're going. at least that way if it turns out to be sooner it'll be a pleasant surprise. this doesn't feel like a huge issue to get worked up over, especially because the release date is so vague anyways. i'm not seeing the problem with people saying KH3 is going to release in three years. it'd be one thing if SE had hinted at a 2019 release but then news outlets start saying the game won't be out until 2021. i can see an issue with that. but here it's just SE saying "Yea KH3 might be out sometime in the next three years," and then news outlets say "KH3 will be out in 3 years." in the grand scheme of things i don't see what the big issue is with that. i mean this is KH3 we're talking about. when SE gives us a time for release, we ought to assume the worst here and say "Oh KH3 will be out within 3 years? So basically in 3 years? OK gotcha."
  17. Deep Jungle is a definite until those licensing issues get taken care of. and even then at that point i'd rather we get another world.
  18. definitely a game from a legacy franchise. Half Life 3 comes to mind as its that one game that people seem to want but Valve does not seem to want to make. i also would have said the FF7 remake but that's already been announced. Psychonauts 2 also might have been one but again, its been announced. basically i'm thinking any game that a lot of people thought deserved a sequel but never got one. or also maybe a new game that was canceled but is suddenly revived.
  19. i think if i had to pick a favorite out of the series it'd be Resident Evil 4. just love the pacing of the game, the writing and the overall design. it's all great. REmake is also a really great entry. i don't really compare it and RE4 since they're so different, but in terms of a survival horror experience, REmake is pretty fantastic. Resident Evil 7 is another favorite of mine. it really did feel like a classic RE but in first person. i guess top three would be RE4, REmake, and RE7, with RE2 coming up as an honorable mention. hopefully the RE2 remake is as good as the original REmake.
  20. i'm fine with it so long as it's not an excuse to release an unfinished game that gets slowly finished over time. give me a complete base game and then if you want, go ahead and make DLC for it and i'll buy it if it looks interesting. personally i'm not too big on the "games as a service" idea. i buy and play a game with the intent to experience it in it's entirety and then move on to something else. i don't finish a game and then keep coming back to it periodically. there's too many other games coming out that i want to play. only time i revisit an old game is if it was really good and i just feel like playing through it again. i get that this whole thing is just a way to keep players coming back to the game and also make some extra money though. seems like a more single player focused game shouldn't really be turned into a service. that model seems like it would better suit a multiplayer game. like i said though, as long as we get a complete game with KH3, i don't care what DLC they throw into it after release.
  21. his heroic sacrifice to shove mickey out of the way of a falling rock that wasn't even going to hit him. good going you goof
  22. at least the CGI movies are good RE movies. maybe not the first one. it's a bit boring. and Leon has zero personality.
  23. wonder if anyone is going to pick a fight with this 2 minute video about KH from IGN. c'mon i know someone is just dying to nitpick this thing. anyone wanna take a shot about that part where the guy says he hopes KH3 doesn't take another few more years to release? i mean who does he think he is? *scoffs* seriously though it'd be great if we actually got something from KH3 at E3. not holding my breath but still.
  24. i'm planning on seeing a lot of movies this summer but Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was really the only one i had any expectations for since the first one was the only Marvel movie i had seen that i really enjoyed. went and saw it a few days ago and thought it was great. as for the other movies this summer... Spider-Man - I'm expecting to enjoy it as it's Spider-Man and from what we got of him in Civil War he seemed entertaining PotC5 - I'm probably going to see this with a friend and not take it too seriously. Although I've heard it isn't as bad as the 4th one so maybe it'll turn out to be legitimately entertaining. Baby Driver - It's Edgar Wright and supposedly meant to incorporate music into it's action scenes which sounds like it could turn out to be pretty cool. Valerian - Looks like a huge sci-fi summer box office bomb but i'll go see it anyways just to give it a shot. it's summer so why not Wonder Woman - DC has turned me off from it's recent movies because they've all seemed to turn out poorly and too grimdark serious. from early impressions it sounds like Wonder Woman may actually avoid some of this and for that i'm willing to take a chance on this DC movie. The Mummy - I'm actually a bit on the fence. I feel like seeing it just cause. Like no actual reason. Just out of curiosity and really nothing else. that about covers it. now as to whether or not i'll actually get around to seeing them all, we'll see lol
