    I know, it's really annoying, i remember. It's literally impossible to escape them 90% of the time, if you see one just Pre-emptive strike it and get it over with. It's annoying, but the way the developers set it up, its almost impossible to avoid battles when you see one, so i recommend just getting it over with. Plus the CP helps.

    Hmmmm. I dunno what your budget is or what you like to eat, but I'm all for steak and cinnamon roll pancakes. It could be fun to stop by a random little locally owned restaraunt you've never been to before. If you wanted to actually make something together while on the date, maybe bake cookies or cupcakes. Something you could have fun with. If it were a group date, it could be fun for each couple to make dinner for one of the other couples using ten dollars or something. I dunno.
