i hate movie critics, with a passion.

I like a critic who's on the average level kind of guy, meaning he knows what he's talking about, but he isn't going to talk down to his fans.
Queen Tery repliedi don't hate them for their job. i hate them for the way they handle their job. i'm fine with most video game reviewers. i feel that a lot of them usually seem to have the right idea. why do i have to read a book, to escape reality? there are many other forms of media that are made to escape reality. i've actually read comments from many directors and actors that talk about how annoying it is that critics just tear apart their movies.
Protoman repliedWell, freedom of xyz protects their rights, of course. Some things just gotta be done, and for a critic, it can be pretty fun. I would know, it's fun to pick out those obvious little tidbits. Of course I'm going to give most things that benefit of a doubt, but critics critique so said director and actors may learn from their mistakes. Everything is good for improvement, and of course, there is more than one critic in the world.

If you see their views and you are the kind of guy that thinks that way yourself, then go on ahead and listen to them. If you aren't, look for someone else. More than one critic.

You can tell everyone else, get a second opinion maybe, it's all about social activity and general subjectivity. PEOPLE CAN BELIEVE THE WAY THEY WANT! If expressing requires tearing apart a movie to prove their point, so be it.
Queen Tery repliedthere are some critics that are open minded, but a lot of them are ignorant. i got to say that my least favorite one is Roger Ebert. He's usually considerably ignorant in his reviews. He goes as far as to insult the fans of a movie he dislikes, as well.

In other words, they have probably studied film and writing techniques, to actually be, well, constructive about what they are critiquing.
