Why is there no love for Atlantica?

Posted

Personally, I thought Atlantica was the greatest world the original Kingdom Hearts offered. It introduced a whole new way of combat and movement, and you really had to think in four directions most of the times. I'm also a huge fan of The Little Mermaid and the characters, especially King Triton.

Which brings me to the question why there has been so little love for Atlantica since the first game.

Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories: Triton makes no appearance, whole story is lame and worst of all, Sora Donald & Goofy do not turn into their aquatic forms.

Re:Chain of Memories: Exact same problem, and also no voice acting (which goes for most of Re:CoM btw)

Kingdom Hearts II: While I love the "Under the Sea" performance from Sora, Ariel, and Sebastian, the rest of it was just lame. Seriously, what the hell?

And since then it never made an appearance again. We've had 365/8 Days, Birth By Sleep, Coded, now Dream Drop Distance, no Atlantica at all, in none of them.

Why is there so little love for this amazing world under the sea?

The only thing I loved was Sora's singing voice.

I just didn't like Atlantica, it was frustrating.

The controls were annoying (something I hope is fixed in the HD remix) but I dunno like I didn't think it was that bad I mean it had turtle Goofy and that was funny.

Kh1: It's controls weren't the best but overall I liked it. It was a good world.

Khcom: It was kind of meh here but still good.

Kh2: The singing. It's just not that great imo.

If they do ever bring it back I would hope it would be like kh1.

I truly loved Atlantica and I hope it comes in the next games of the series. Although I have to admit that the controls have to be fixed, but it's really FUN to search for things and explore it.

I believe it's a world with SO MUCH POTENCIAL! If only it was bigger, with little fishes swimming around, better graphics (more or less like KH2).

I'd love to explore the city of Atlantica, and to know the story behind King Tritons misterious stating in KH1. And I think there are a lot to develop in that world (don't forget the 90's series of The Little Mermaid, the same for Alladin).

HOPE NOMURA READS THIS!

I hate water worlds (Zelda Water Temple...no thanks) and the controls were really annoying

so I was glad that Atlantica was only a "mini game world" in KH II

I hope that Atlantica won't be in any KH game ever again...I want a Pixar world!!

1st game was fine. 2nd, ugh shoot me now. Why would they give you a command for dolphin kick when you don't use it once?!

The developers likely don't really know how to make it work best, so it's just easier to prioritize worlds that they have solid ideas for. You only get so long to develop a game.

Great!!! Thank you SO MUCH!!! Now I don't have to worry about that, God bless You!

Gee, I hope you don't get upset when Finding Nemo is in the next Kingdom Hearts installment.

(I assume we're talking about KH2 'cause loads of people hated Atlantica in that that)

I liked it. I thought it was nice to have a break from proper fighting and doing a music challenge. Whenever I didn't feel like fighting I would just go do the music game in Atlantica til I got more in the mood for grinding (or either stopped playing).

*358/2 days xD fail.

Anyways, I wonder what mermaid Xion would look like

Because it fu*king sucks.

...I don't know, the whole idea of Atlantica and Wonderland just don't agree with me. Halloween Town too, I just can't stand them.

And Sora shouldn't be in a damn musical.

Funny thing, a couple of weeks ago i had a dream that Finding Nemo was confirmed in a magazine as a world in KH3 or as a "replacement world" for Atlantica :)

Because it fu*king sucks.

Yes, how about Riku and Terra singing underwater:DD? DREAM OF FANS

KH goes Broadway? Anyone

Well I liked atlantica in kh1 in kh2 it was meh, there were too many musical numbers and not enough battles :/ although I have to admit I simply adored Sora singing "Under the Sea" all the other musical numbers can go to hell though :0

The controls were shitty, the singing was bad, it has no importance to the "story" at all and the AI was horrific.

In KH it was okay. They made the controls better in KH2... but then the musical came along, lol.

When BBS was announced I hoped to see it again because of Triton's hatred of Keyblades. But no.

Could have been the perfect world for Terra to do something really bad.

Wow, what is wrong with you people? Didn't you ever see The Little Mermaid as a kid? Didn't you ever sing along to the amazing songs in it?

Let's talk Atlantica KH1. Yes the controls were difficult to get used to, but how could you not love that world? It had the greatest atmosphere, the greatest music, the most vivid artwork and the most colorful characters.

I can't understand how people can like a world such as Deep Jungle over Atlantica. Really? It's just a bland jungle, the characters are boring, the main character doesn't even speak, nor do any of the gorillas.

And what about this Pixar shit? This isn't a mix of Final Fantasy and Pixar, it's a mix of Final Fantasy and Disney. Finding Nemo? Wall-E? Madagascar? Really? I hope to God they never include any of this in Kingdom Hearts.

You know why I loved Kingdom Hearts? Because it allowed me to go on an adventure and explore the Disney worlds I had seen in my childhood, and have loved ever since. Agrabah was amazing, Wonderland was original, and for me Atlantica was just magical. Monstro was less appealing to me, Halloween Town had just the right atmosphere, Neverland was once again amazing. But Deep Jungle? I really cared least for that world in the first KH.

Kingdom Hearts II brought a few good new ones to the table (minus Space Paranoids, what the hell), but ruined the old ones. It wasn't just Atlantica that sucked, it was also Agrabah and Halloween Town. KHII in general just had a lot of disappointments.

But I don't see all this as a reason to exclude Atlantica from future installments. I think if they rework the controls and expand the world it's gonna be amazing. And yes music is a part of that too, The Little Mermaid was a musical movie. If you didn't like Part Of Your World or Under The Sea in KHII you've either never seen the movie or you hated it. I agree that the other songs weren't that good, but these two were amazing, even if that's not enough for an Atlantica world.

I think Atlantica is one of the better Disney worlds in the first game. What l liked best about it was that the story wasn't just a retelling of the movie, but had more to do with Kingdom Hearts in general.

Halloween Town too, I just can't stand

W-w-what?! *faints*

Anyway TC, I have no idea. Atlantica was just a fresh, amazing experience for me in KH1 and it was that world that made the original my favorite game when I first played it.
