Video games blamed on giving kids cancer

Featured Replies

Well it CAN give cancer. That i understand. But no one told you to sit and play all day.Why not encourage parents to do something, like.. i dunno...discourage them from constantly playing games ALL day?Schols can spread awareness (Maybe give an idea of what cancer is like and other problems caused by excessive gaming?)Oh BUT firetruck THAT!Let's blame inanimate objects instead

Not big surprise, after all, the video games are spawn of Satan himself!

Video games cause cancer?

illegit

I honestly have to say that everything gives you cancer.Video games technically cause cancer. It's not the actual video game itself, but it's the LED screen tv that cause it.Now if you play video games on those old fashion regular TVs, then there is no chance at all, I believe.Last year I learned about this in science class. Those screens, {Smart phones mostly cause this since you put your phone to your face to talk.} it gives off a type of radiation that could be extremely hazardous. You have to be constantly exposed to it though. So unless you put your face to the TV everytime you watch TV or play video games, you should be fine. Smartphones {again, this is only if you talk on the phone 24/7 with no bluetooth} can cause brain tumors and even brain cancer if I remember correctly.

If your parents let you play video games that much that you could develop cancer then maybe the parents should question their own parenting skills.. People need to take responsibility for their own bad choices instead of casting the blame on everyone /everything  but themselves. It's not the games that's the problem .It's the lack of of exercise, bad diet, and other factors that contribute to bad health issues and further problems. All of this is preventable as well. Too much of ANYTHING is a bad thing regardless of what it is.

THIS.

How about we stop blaming everything for the cause and actually make an effort to search for the cure?

As FlamingLea posted, people need to take responsibility for their actions.

cancer-ceptions everywhere!

Im wondering if the same goes for Computers/Laptops these days...

If it does I'm screwed .__.

If it does I'm screwed .__.

I think I remember in Science class that Laptops give a similar radiation...

were all screwed

My God, this is just ridiculous.  It seems that nowadays everything gives you cancer.  People keep inventing new excuses to label things as "you're gonna die of cancer" on everything.  I've heard this multiple times before with just about any other kind of thing. :/

Damn, it's 1992 all over again.

Video games are being compared to serial killers and cancer?

What next?

Video games turn your child gay?

Don't want to give Joe Biden any ideas...

So if you play video games, you're sitting.

If you're sitting, you're not moving

If you're not moving, you're not burning calories

If you're not burning calories, you're gaining weight

If you're gaining weight, you gain a tolerance to high-calorie foods

If you have a high calorie quota and are constantly distracted, you'll probably choose to eat carbohydrate-filled junk food

If you eat carbohydrate-filled junk food, it probably contains frying oil to make it crispy

If it contains frying oil, it has the potentional to spoil

If it has the potential to spoil, the company would be wise to invest in preservatives

If they use preservatives, they might want to find a cheap one

If they cheap out, they might use a synthetic compoud with unknown side affects

If you consume the chemical you have a 1 in 99,999 chance of contracting cancer which may or may not have anything to do with the chemical

Therefore: Video games cause cancer.

Wow. That's is just stupid.

Are they gonna say that video games cause tornados now?

Seems legit.

As others before me have stated, this is probably true to some degree, though since we're on a video game site, you're all going deny it. If you spend your entire day I front of an electronic screen, chances are that yes, this will have harmful effects on your body, which may through years of abuse, lead to cancer. (It's like smoking. No, you won't get cancer at first, but through heavy usage, it can cause that reaction in the body.) Though, again, since we're on a video game site no one will admit it, but video games really are harming people in ways we've proved. Granted, they're only in cases of the mentally disturbed and those who play games so long that it's engulfed their lives, but still.

I don't know what the media are trying to prove but this is ridiculous.

Theres like....five people who said they could see how video games causing cancer could be legit....ON THIS THREAD o___O

Anywho,

This is just like the time parents were blaming TV shows for kids imitating the stuff they say on it.

It couldnt the parents fault for not teaching the kids to not imitate everything they say, or that alot of the stuff on TV isnt real! NO! Couldnt be their fault! Ive watched WAY worse stuff growing up as far as cartoons go, but I never tried to set someone on fire or cut them with a knife because I saw Bugs Bunny do it o__O

People need to get their crap together. Look in the mirror and your own life before you dump the blame on the undeserving....

Make sure you understand what someone said before quoting them. I'm glad people agree, but the fact is the majority of this website probably doesn't. If I see things I disagree with I often don't post. I'm pretty sure those who don't agree far outnumber those who believe it may link to cancer.

Exactly what sort of radiation is this?  NO VISIBLE LIGHT POSSESSES THE POWER TO REARRANGE CELLULAR DNA.  it doesn't work that way.  The only way it would work is if they're using UV radiation or above, which shouldn't pass a safety check.  Cancer itself is an error in the DNA of cells.  When caused by radiation, it's because it's gone straight through and messed with the molecular structure of the DNA, causing it to mess up and do the wrong thing.

I apologize. I misunderstood. But it seriously sounded like you were calling a majority of the site idiots for not believing that video games could cause cancer and that they were in denial or something. If thats not what you were saying, again Im sorry.

If it was....thats not very nice lol
