Posted March 19, 201312 yr (Kinda bored, so decided to do a Video Games topic ) When people play video games, there's always something that the games must have in order for players to completely enjoy video games. Some say it's the graphics, others say that it's the gameplay, OST, story, etc. So what's the most important aspect of video games for you?
March 19, 201312 yr All are important but I'd say the most important is gameplay. Without it you're pretty much just interested in the story and music which you can find online
March 19, 201312 yr Aside from obvious gameplay... 1. Story 2. Graphics 3. OST In order of importance for me lol. I'd like a game that has Final Fantasy Graphics + Kingdom Hearts Story + Journey Soundtrack. And behold the masterpiece that's created. Edited March 19, 201312 yr by Xalaru
March 19, 201312 yr Story. I've completed games that I absolutely hated the gameplay on just because I wanted to see how the story pans out. And I barely pay attention to music but I'd notice if there was none. I probably just register it subconsciously. However I've tried to play games from the 16 bit era that had good stories and just couldn't do it. But I also couldn't play a game with great graphics and no story. March 19, 201312 yr 1. Storyline - Can't think of something 2. Gameplay - If a game doesn't have good gameplay values, it'll become boring to continue playing. 3. Music - It Needs to have a talented composer and original masterpieces of music. Edited March 19, 201312 yr by KH2FFMM
March 19, 201312 yr 1. Story 2. OST 3. Cute/drop dead gorgeous characters Kingdom Hearts fits all these requirements for me!
March 19, 201312 yr Gameplay, it's really the most important thing. I mean, imagine a good story and soundtrack with crappy gameplay...oh god
March 19, 201312 yr Story, then gameplay. If a game has a good story, I'm willing to overlook so much in terms of how the gameplay pans out. For example, Epic Mickey's gameplay was kind of meh, but the story was so good that it's still in my top ten favorite list of all time. Conversely, Fire Emblem 10 played great (love me that in-campaign save option) but the story is so awful that I can't bring myself to play it again. Edited March 19, 201312 yr by Dave
March 19, 201312 yr Gameplay, it's really the most important thing. I mean, imagine a good story and soundtrack with crappy gameplay...oh god But yeah, honestly I don't think any one "aspect" is really most important in this day and age. Maybe gameplay, since that really should be the most vital for, ya know, a game. But really, everything needs to work together to make a good game, and good games tend to have these aspects flow into each other, anyway.
March 19, 201312 yr Okay, so the most important thing for me in a video game, first and foremost, is the story. A video game may have epic graphics, but in order for me to be invested in a game, the story has to be emotional and compelling and mind boggling. And there has to be loads of content for me to unlock. That's one of the reasons why I love Kingdom Hearts so much, and also, Batman: Arkham Asylum is one epic game in terms of story. (And everything else too, lol.) Okay, so the second most important thing is the gameplay. I like for the gameplay to be simple, but with enough depth to make me invest hours upon hours on customization when it comes to combat and equipment and such stuff. And the music, I believe, is something that complements a game really well. My favorite video game music is obviously the Kingdom Hearts Soundtrack. And let's see...last but not least, the graphics. Gorgeous graphics mesmerize me. And yeah, that's pretty much it. ^_^
March 19, 201312 yr Gameplay. They're games. There are other mediums for storytelling, whether from books, movies, comics, animation, what have you. When you're telling a story through interactive means, then that interaction better damn well be fun. Not all games even need story--does Mario need anything but "save princess" to be fun? If you're doing it purely for the story, then watch a movie or read a book. If you're adding gameplay to the mix, gameplay takes precedence because there are other means to tell your story out there that don't require interaction. If you have an awesome story but your gameplay sucks, either 1) make the gameplay better, or 2) choose a medium that doesn't require your audience to slog through something so they can get to the stuff they enjoy. Games are one of the few entertainment media that doesn't require a plot to be fun. Everything else does, because otherwise what're you doing but sitting still, reading words or looking at pictures that don't mean anything?
March 19, 201312 yr To me I've played a lot of different games ranging from IB, to portal, to Infamous, to Journey, and Tales of Grace, to name a few different games. The one thing I love in a game is how well the games plays with the story. Even if it is crap with the graphics the story is what I love and how the games ties with it and how the game plays to it and keeps the theme going.
March 19, 201312 yr The most important thing to me is that its fun to play. If I don't have fun playing, then I simply will not stay interested, no matter how good the rest of the game is. Once it passes that test, my continued interest will mostly depend on the story.
March 20, 201312 yr Graphics and story are the most important aspects of a video game to me. But primarily it must have a good cast of characters.
March 20, 201312 yr It's impossible to choose just one. If I don't like the story, obviously I'm not going to play it. If I don't enjoy the gameplay I won't play it.
March 20, 201312 yr Gameplay If I don't have fun with it I would never want to play it and story is a 2nd. I guess for purpose of playing I kinda have a tie between graphics and OST I don't really want to nitpick for fine graphics, but they still count and I never really notice the music on most occasions
