Should a KH game be released every year?

Posted

Well like the title says, should Square release a KH game every year? I think they shouldn't. Reason being is, I don't want to get "spoiled" with a new KH game every year. I personally think they should space them out more, make it more worthwhile when a new games comes out. It will also give the developers more time to work on the game, and that would lead to better design, gameplay, ect.

Anyways, what are your thoughts on this?

I'd actually prefer something like every two or three years so the game gets a lot of time to develop but oh well, they're doing one every year.

I agree. But then my inner fangirl screams, "Nooooooo!!!!!!!! I want one every year!".

if the developers did something amazing with each new kh game like they have sorta done, then i wouldnt mind it, but going from kh re:coded to kh3d was kinda annoying cuz kh3d felt alot like bbs with limits and pokemon which didnt make the game overly amazing, but i did like flow motion

Yes. More KH is always a good thing, so long as it doesn't get to the point where it gets its own "Final Fantasy: All the Bravest."

The more the merrier. I do agree that they should invest more time in making the game a little more better, but I don't mind where it's at really.

No, because then there will be no quality. Take a look at the sports games and call of duty and you'll see what I mean.

Well, I cant say yes since they've already been doing it 2004. Though, doesnt matter to me as long as its not a numbered title.

No. I want them to sit down and take the time to develop a really good game, with good storytelling, then just getting things out the door.

If the content is good, the audience will be willing to wait.

The games do get a lot of time to develop. There are different teams working on different games. It's not like the games only get on year of development and then they're released.

Here's an example, there are three teams; three new games announced. There has already been a game released that year. The next year one of the teams finishes whatever they were working on. They finished quickly because it was a small game. The next year the next team releases their game. They have now gotten at least two years to develop this game. Then the next the last out of the three games gets released. This game has then gotten at least three years of development.

I understand that but I'm saying even more development time would probably be beneficial. Especially if they were to take a few years with KH3.

Well weather we like it or not it's going to continue happening until KHIII. I doubt it will continue after that because because KHIV will be the start of a new saga and it wouldn't make sense to continue the game a year plan when III will be the end of the current story line.

I guarantee that the same people who are saying that it should stop will be the first ones to complain when we don't get a new game the year after KHIII releases. Fans are never satisfied.

Ehh...well, I've seen everyone's comments, & I'm confused. Do I have to decide?

Nah, I think Square should just make a KH game every 2-3 years so there would be more development time with each new installment of the series. We wouldn't want KH to become another Call of Duty now do we? :P

It`s already become a Duke Nukem with the wait for KH3

nomura wont be able to keep this promise after 2.5 came out. it will need a lottt of time to make KH3 , this if they want to make a awesome game at least and we know they want, so theres a big development time ahead in these games. But not big like versus 13 thats completely ridiculous and the game wont sold that well because most of the fanbase just got disinterested for waiting more than 8 years or their hype is too much and they will be disappointed by something in the end (Unfortunately KH3 has those risks too)

when I say big development time im talking about 3-4 years for this kind of game, especially when we are talking about ps3 here.

No. They should take their time to bring the best content they can. They could probably listen to ideas from the fans to make KHIII even better :D

Each game so far has been amazing to play in every aspect, so I'm quite happy that we get a KH game once a year. Beats waiting years for it. I mean honestly, what better quality stuff do you really expect them to come up with? Each game has been brilliant (Re:Coded aside, but even that wasn't as bad as everyone makes out). I can imagine KH3 might take 2 or 3 to come out (God help us) but hopefully we'll have other games to tide us over while there's a wait anyway.

I'm ok with them making a KH game every year, unless they're making a Numbered Title, since those are the most important ones. Those should have 2 years to be made. Besides the more KH the better.

I agree with Xalaru.  They've been doing just fine with the one game a year thing.

I don't mind if they have one every year, and for the comments concerning waiting so developers can focus on one game: remember that the "Osaka Team" as i believe it is called, only developed KH1 and KH2. They've been stuck on Versus XIII since 2006. The other games were developed by a few different divisions. 358/2, BBS, and DDD were all primarily the same, and re:coded had its own division if I remember correctly. Now of course the top heads of the game are in every one such as the good ol' troll Nomura himself. But they still take lots of time to develop.

Another good example of this is the Assassins Creed Franchise. They are on a new game every year basis now. It's not like AC4 was started after they finished AC3. 4 began development in like 2010 the same way they were already starting 3 before that. Different teams work on these games as part of a giant studio. If all of Square Enix worked on every game, the games would stink. Think of how many SE games have come out in the last 9 months or so and how many more are left for this year: Tomb Raider, KH3D, KHHD 1.5 (2.5 is also in development so you could even count it), Etrian oddessey, heroes of ruin, FF XIII Lightning Returns, Dragon quest, and several others too.

Basically, a game a year is no problem for me :)

Yes. The games are already good quality.

Absolutely they should release a game every year! Don't want to keep the fans waiting.

I kind of agree with the not wanting to get spoiled thing. Don't get me wrong, they're doing just fine with the one game a year thing, plus having a game come out every year kind of pacifies the wait for KH3, making it a little more bearable haha. With that I guess a tiny bit more of a gap between the game releases wouldn't hurt.

I'll probably regret making that last statement later on.
