My points were useless because SE decided to change the abilities you get with each item. WOW.

 

But this PROtip still remains: I've seen a lot of people say magic is "useless" in KH1. That couldn't be anywhere near the truth. I was 2-3 shotting the End of the World heartless, and taking out a whole half a bar of HP on the last few bosses with Graviga, and they have multiple bars of HP. Fyyyyiiii

I always picked the sword because of the extra attack power, but  I may just pick the dream rod this time around and keep defence, thank's for the info!

 I like the shield.

Sword is canon.I choose sword.

 

It really depends on your playstyle. I usually use physical attacks with little emphasis on defense so I always chose the sword and give up the shield.

I'm going with sword anyway.  I know and sure those abilities are very useful.  But I'm one of those players who likes going with extra strength.  Besides (unless you don't count) attacks like sonic blade and strike raid that use MP, the only magic I really use are Cure and Aero.  I like to attack heartless and bosses myself and not finish them off with offensive magic.

I never payed attention to that before, imma take the magical wand next time and try it out, i always figured since i dont really use magic i dont need it but i see the light now

Isn't the rod essential to getting the best post-game Sora possible? I picked the sword and left the rod when I first played this game as a kid, but I think i'll do it the other way around this time. I want the best level 100 Sora possible.

Whoa, I didn't think of that. ._. I still usually choose the shield now though, since I go with Expert. The defense boost is insanely helpful, and I don't use magic often aside from Curaga and Aeroga.

 I like the shield.

I keep seeing everybody say they dont use magic in battles that much....however if you train with merlin and spend some time in mixing attacks with magic that will change. And its really a helpful tool

I always chose the sword, since I have always been a player that relies mostly on strength and landing critical blows.

I do use magic sometimes, but it isn't something I focus on.

Stun impact has too much of a delay time, I don't really need Leaf Bracer, and I did just fine without Magic Haste/MP Rage. They're not necessary abilities. I always go with the sword for Sliding Dash and Counterattack.

As long as you don't sacrifice the sword if you pick the staff or shield, you'll only lose 1 Strength point. 

I will likely choose the sword anyways, mostly because you can get some really useful abilities very early in the game. I know that I might not get the rest until later, but oh well, I still get them eventually.
