An author has suggested in her book that Adolf Hitler may have fled to Argentina and then Paraguay before settling in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso to look for buried treasure with a map given to him by Vatican allies.
The book challenges the view that the Nazi leader shot himself in his Berlin bunker on April 30 1945, claiming instead that he may have resided as Adolf Leipzig in the small town of Nossa Senhora do Livramento, 30 miles from the state capital Cuiaba, the Daily Star reported.
Simoni, a Brazilian jew, who comes from Cuiaba, said that Adolf Leipzig was known locally as the 'Old German.' She has published a picture of his, which she claims was taken about two years before his death with a black girlfriend called Cutinga - arguing that his friendship with a non-Aryan could have been part of a ruse to hide his true identity.
According to local papers, Simoni is now planning DNA tests using a relative of Hitler residing in Israel after having gotten permission to exhume Leipzig's remains from his final resting place in Nossa Senhora do Livramento.
