I've noticed that on alot of KH streamer's twitch chats, lots of poeple have expressed hatred for BBS. Alot have been saying it is flawed and it was an unneccesary game, including bl00dybizkitz. 

Now my question here is: why do you guys think it is such a bad game? the battle system was pretty fun to play with, the story it had made alot of existing KH games make SO much more sense. and it had a mysterious suspenseful feel to it. and the cameos were really cool. if there is anybody that is reading this that didnt like BBS, i'd love to hear your opinion on it

I think it's obvious that most people hated the Game that doesn't have "Multiplayer" on Mirage Arena...

Personally I love Birth by Sleep, but I'm a sucker for backstory and prequels so my opinion is biased

 

Plus you finally get to play as a female protagonist with a story mode- took long enough

I don't think a few people on a stream accounts for BBS being 'hated so much', but of course it's gonna have people who don't like it. It's personally my favorite in the series in terms of gameplay cause I love the command deck and the music, worlds were pretty sweet too. The story is kind of dumb but at this point in the KH universe you kinda have to accept that. Tied with KH2 I love BBS and I wouldn't account for a few people on a stream for it being hated so much since the most hated KH game usually goes to RE:Coded (which I personally like) and my most personally hated KH game is Days (which a lot of people love)

The only thing I didn't liked about BBS was the camera, but that will be fixed in KH II.5.

People hate it because:

 

It introduced Master Xehanort who some people don't like

The whole keyblade inheritance thing left a bad taste for some

The three stories thing wasn't executed all that well, completing a story with so many skills and moves only to start a new one from scratch is not fun. DDD did it right

The voice acting

The worlds are small. 

The Unversed are probably the lamest of the enemies in the series.

 

That said I loved BBS but those are just some of the reasons those that hate it do. *sips tea*

BBS is practically the most praised for game in the series. I love it myself, but a lot of it played out too slow for me and that pushed it down my list. It probably lists 3rd on my favorite KH titles.

To be fair though saying its flawed isn't really an argument because a lot of games are flawed. KH2 is regarded the best in the series but a lot of people have criticized  KH2 calling it a boring button masher. In the end people are gonna have different opinions and 1 or 2 people saying they don't like something doesn't represent the masses.

What planet was that from? Because from what I've heard, almost the entire fan community loves that game to death.

 I agree. I love BBS, always have. In my opinion, I think it doesn't have any flaws.... plus I loved playing as a female after so long

Yeah because it was retconned so that he would be behind all this. That wasn't how it was in the KH1-KH2 days. The KH1/CoM/KH2 trilogy makes just as much sense without having an old man possessing a young man then splitting himself into two being behind things from KH1 onwards. Having apprenticenort as the real Xehanort like what was initially presumed gives a much cleaner story.

I think Re:Coded is okay too, I don't hate it. I think Days had a really great story, but horrible gameplay, which is why I think it works better as cutscenes.

I've never heard of Birth by Sleep being hated before. Personally I loved it and it was a damn fine Kingdom Hearts and PSP title. Was it perfect? No, but no Kingdom Hearts game is.

 

I've heard some people say they weren't keen on it but anyone who genuinely hates it is probably just trying to be different. It's also worth noting that any title without a number in it (excluding Days in this instance) gets hate from certain fans who've only played KH1 & 2 simply because "omg KH should be on Playstation only". A lot of people avoided the spin-offs side stories as if they were some sort of plague and said they hated them and demanded KH3 to no end. I'd say half the people in the Twitch chat boxes never even played Birth by Sleep (or any of the other handheld titles for that matter) and are just saying shit about it for the sake of it.

 

Of course though people are allowed to dislike Birth by Sleep, cause you know opinions and stuff but I've yet to see a good argument as to why Birth by Sleep was an atrocious game in their eyes.

I never knew people hated it, everyone I have ever met you likes Kingdom Hearts (be they a friend or just the guy working at the GameStop or Books A Million) have always stated that BBS is one of their favorite, if not their favorite, game(s) in the Kingdom Hearts series. I personally love it and every time I replay it, I am remembered how much I enjoy it and just how much I love the Command Board mini game.

First I'm hearing of it. It's my favorite.

I loved it is after KH2 as my favorite.

The reason why people may hate is cause of to much princess worlds.

This. I think one of the bigger problems with BBS honestly was that some moments of it didn't quite capture how serious the moment was supposed to be. There were a few times I was scratching my head over some of what the characters said to each other. Nevertheless, like DDD it had a really great ending and a decent enough buildup. I personally did like the three characters though, and the command melding! And I still think I'm the only person to actually love Re:Coded -_-
