Nomura's projects will occupy him until 2019, & new game projects next year (not necessarily KH-related)

Recommended Posts

In an interview at New York Comic Con 2014 the director of the Kingdom Hearts series, Tetsuya Nomura has revealed he has projects that will occupy him until 2019. He also revealed that he has new game projects that will be announced next year. Thanks go to @FFDream and @Obsqura for the tip.

The projects can mean various things as Nomura recently designed Batman and Catwoman Play Arts Kai figures, equipment for the upcoming Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate video game for Nintendo 3DS and also designed his very own version of humanoid persona, Hatsune Miku.

As for the game projects, Nomura is of course directing Kingdom Hearts III which is the in very early stages of development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One by Square Enix's Osaka team. The Osaka team also recently put out a job advertisement for an unnamed online multiplayer game. Nomura is also of course the main character designer for many Final Fantasy games, and it is likely he will be the main character designer for the next Final Fantasy title directed by Motomu Toriyama and produced by Yoshinori Kitase after filling the role for Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XIII along with their respective prequels and sequels.

What do you think Tetsuya Nomura is working on? Let us know in the comments below.

If it were KH related, I'd say the next saga, after Xehanort is defeated (or not defeated, who knows? Nomura says he's like Xehanort after all)

Wait... did I hear Persona?! Like Atlas Persona?

Like "character".

Do you think maybe the next series of Kingdom Hearts will feature a new series based on what happened after Dream Drop Distance where Kairi and Lea(I hope they becomes playable!!! >W<)train with Master Yen Sid and them saving Aqua, Terra and Ventus while Kingdom Hearts III will be focusing on the Great Clash of Light and Darkness and protecting the seven Princesses of Hearts?

That's part of Kingdom Hearts III, Terra, Aqua, and Ventus have to be saved before the clash happens, there's not going to be a separate game about it.

Anyway, even though some of his projects next year might not necessarily be KH related, I would still like to see what becomes of KH 3D and KH X before KH3 is eventually released. They are thinking about what to do with them, so at the very least, I'd like to see what's done with 3D in either late 2015 or 2016, or whatever year it would be.

Not only that, Andrew Rowland, but it could be detrimental to his health and mental state. He's also stated in the past that work keeps him away from his family... Honestly, I think it'd probably be better for everyone involved if Nomura didn't take on so many heavy burdens at once. -sigh-

Anyway, I'm going to go pray to the gods for a TWEWY sequel now.

And maybe a follow-up game to Dirge of Cerberus, hinted at by the game's secret ending. (What? After having directed Advent Children, Nomura could be working on something like that, maybe.)

I'd list other things, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

And I do wonder what happened to that online KH game Pleasants hinted at. (Not that I think SE had anything to do with that, though.)

Edit: Wasn't there also talk about sequels to Versus/FFXV at one point? Not that I can imagine Nomura being involved with that anymore at this point.

Edit Deux: FFXVI being in the early works might also be a thing.
