Yen Press to localize "Kingdom Hearts: The Novel" in English for the first time

DChiuch

Yen Press, a United States-based localisation company for Japanese manga and novels, have revealed on their Kingdom Hearts page that they will be releasing Kingdom Hearts: The Novel sometime in March 2015. Kingdom Hearts: The Novel will be 300 pages long (at a size of 5-1/2″ x 8-1/4″), and will be available for US$16.00.

Update: Barnes & Noble have confirmed that it will be released on March 24, 2015.

The novel is listed with artist Shiro Amano and writer Tomoco Kanemaki, indicating that this novel is likely a translated compilation of the first two Japanese Kingdom Hearts novels, The First Door and Darkness Within. The following novel description was also published:

On the Destiny Islands, three children–Sora, Riku, and Kairi–are living out their peaceful, carefree lives while yearning for whatever lies beyond the great ocean. But one night, an unexpected disaster takes place, and the three are torn from each other and their island home. Meanwhile, at Disney Castle, Donald Duck and the other castle residents are in an uproar upon discovering King Mickey has suddenly gone missing. When fate brings them together, Sora, Donald, and Goofy set out on a grand Disney adventure to find their friends!

This is amazing news!

With their localization of the 358/2 Days manga almost completed and their latest issue of Kingdom Hearts II coming out this Winter, I was seriously wondering what I was going to do for reading throughout 2015

Yen Press is godly, I can't wait for the Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance novels

Users here with money shoud totally buy their stuff so we continue to get these beautiful localizations!

OH MY GOSH. Finally. After so many years. I didn't know this time would come. I really do hope they manage to reach at least the Birth by Sleep novels.

This is all I've ever wanted in my life. OMG. I'm like crying tears of joy now. The novels are just amazing and shed so much light onto things (and are even third tier canon, almost)...

So now to hear that I'll finally get to own them and read them all (at least the KH1 ones)... It's a dream come truly, really.

OMG. This is like the best day ever. No joke. All that Yen Press and SE pestering finally paid off. Woot! :D

I'll probably get this. I love Yen Press' work with Soul Eater and SAO, so this should be good. It'll be weird reading something from them that's going to be kid-friendly, though... xD

Yes and I'm going to bathe in it. xD Heres a translation of the KHII novel goldpanner posted on tumblr:

Kairi stopped moving at the sound of Donald’s voice. She slowly turned, a huge smile spreading across her face.

Sora and the others were staring at her.

A huge smile broke out on Sora’s face, too.

“Kairi—I’m so happy I get to see you.”

Riku’s eyes shuttered against that smile.

“You and Riku were so slow getting back, so I came.”

Sora and Kairi gazed at each other, then walked towards each other.

“I’m sorry.”

I still didn’t get Riku back…

Sora glanced away, and that moment, Kairi flung herself at his chest.

“…It’s not a dream…”

Kairi’s hands came up around Sora’s back, and she hugged him tightly. Lost for a moment, Sora raised his hands—and then he hugged her back.

Hmmm, I wonder if people who have already translated the novel will be contacted by Yen press over this...

Yen Press hasn't done anything like that from what I know.
