100,000 Monster Battle
Headphone Jack replied to Jingilator's topic in Kingdom Hearts III & Kingdom Hearts III Re Mind
oooooh you'd have to really consider the pacing in a set piece fight like that. i mean the 1000 Heartless fight was cool but eventually it did start to drag on. they'd have to implement some cool context sensitive moments in the battle where you can get an assist from a party member and take out a good chunk quickly. if they wanted to up the ante i think 10,000 would be good enough. or even 5,000. the focus would have to be on letting the player go crazy on a huge hoard of enemies, and to be fair it looks as though KH3 may have the right kind of combat for that. it looks like it'll be all over the place with a good variety of abilities. one thing that hurt the 1000 Heartless battle was not being able to use Drive Forms. i understand why they did it but still, that would have been a great moment for the player to use all their abilities to the fullest. i wouldn't mind them trying to implement another set piece moment like they did in KH2, so long as the player has enough variety in their abilities to keep things interesting. 100,000 might be overkill though lol i'd say 5,000 would be better, assuming the enemies don't take forever to kill, and they aren't an enemy type that can't be easily dealt with. -
What's the hardest Kingdom Hearts game?
Headphone Jack replied to Ventus_'s topic in Poll of the Week
Chain of Memories on GBA. while the card system more or less functions the same between the GBA and PS2 versions, that dodge roll in combat was a pain. at least Re:CoM gave you a full 3D environment to avoid enemy attacks in. i had the hardest time trying to keep a safe distance from enemies in CoM and rolling rarely ever helped. runner up might be KH: Chi. although i never played it past the first couple of missions. since it's a mobile game designed with in app purchases that impact gameplay, i would think the game would be designed to be difficult to a point that forces you to spend your money to progress.- 29 replies

The Evil Within 2 was probably the most interesting thing I saw. loved the imagery and tone they seem to be going for and i'll definitely pick it up in time for the Halloween season.

please no. i'm thinking the only reason we aren't seeing more worlds is because the world reveals are a good way for them to drum up excitement for the game. it's fun to guess which world is next and if they just throw in a lot of worlds into a trailer they lose all that hype and build up. if we get an episodic release i might just end up waiting till the whole thing is done. i mean we shouldn't get an episodic release anyways. i don't feel like KH3 would be a good kind of game to break up into multiple chunks.

i've been rereading the manga recently now that i finally bought them all and i'd say the manga does a good enough job of adapting them. so far i've only read the KH and CoM manga and both do a good job of just condensing the story for anyone who might just want a refresher on the series. I've started the Days manga and I'm curious to see if I'll enjoy the story more in manga form over the original video game. The story has potential to be entertaining but maybe the way it was originally presented bogged it down. all those random missions with not a lot to do might have got in the way, so we'll see.

well hey that's what happens when you have so little of a thing. the more we have of something, the less value it can accrue. so clearly SE are playing a long game here where they give no KH3 info for long periods of time so that when they finally do release a bit of information, fans will be ecstatic and forget that long period of drought they just endured. genius.

yea pretty much i agree with what you said on the difference conferences. Sony's was definitely a step down from last year. the new God of War looks "ehh," a DLC for Horizon Zero Dawn, the VR stuff, and that Spider Man demo which showed off a lot of quick time events (yikes). it was all just lackluster. i'm guessing they're just going to shift more focus on their own PSX conferences from now, given how they revealed TLOU2 which was arguably a huge announcement for them to not make at E3. i enjoyed Bethesda's conference mainly because of The Evil Within 2 being revealed. despite having mixed feelings on the first one i'll gladly give this sequel a try. the imagery in the trailer looked interesting and i'm hoping they they'll take what they learned from the first game and improve the second one with it. EA and Microsoft were meh for me since none of the games they showed off i was really interested in. Nintendo had a pretty good conference though. i tuned in just because it happened to be on and it was really good. Mario Odyssey continues to look amazing. the new trailer they showed dropped so much info on you it was crazy. also i love how the bosses are a group of evil wedding planners. like wtf it's so weird but it's great. the game looks like it'll be pretty fun and it makes me want to get a switch (probably won't though cause i've still got so many games to play on PS4 and it's hard to make time for them all these days). and even though i'm not a fan of the Metroid series, i knew the weight that was behind the announcement of Prime 4 so even that excited me. i'd rank them from best to worst Nintendo Bethesda Sony Ubisoft Microsoft EA (didn't watch PC show)

i know there was that twitter post from the guy who worked at SE saying fans should tune in for a surprise they'll definitely like or whatever, but i feel like that could easily be referring to a world fans have been asking to have for a while. if we do get a release date, we'd all better mentally add another 6 months or so to the date because i get the feeling KH3 won't release without at least one delay.

Persona 3 FES Randomly Pops Up On PS4 Store
Headphone Jack replied to MythrilMagician's topic in General Discussion
i honestly would like for Atlus to release a definitive version of Persona 3. it seems like across all the versions there are things that make each one good. FES has the 3D models and locations, and the added epilogue "The Answer," Portable has the female MC with new music and social links, the ability to control party members and that boss rush zone... The game would really benefit from a definitive edition at some point. Hopefully if it pops up on PS4 as a PS2 classic it won't rule out the possibility of a potential remastering of it later. -
yea no doubt whatever Sora's holding is meant to tease the next world reveal at D23. i also thought it looked like some kind of space blaster so i assumed it was Toy Story as well. guess we'll find out next month.

New Bubsy Game Announced (No, Seriously)
Headphone Jack replied to TheFinalPersonaKeyblade's topic in General Discussion
looks like they're trying to cash in their meme points and make this game an ironic success. only problem is it looks like a bland platformer that will be terrible. i wonder if they think all the Bubsy jokes are enough to make this thing successful. -
Why i think Kingdom Hearts 3 will be at E3
Headphone Jack replied to GotMilk5101520's topic in Random & Forum Games
guys guys if you take the letters in "KINGDOM HEARTS 3" and rearrange them a bit, then add a few more letters, it spells "KINGDOM HEARTS 3 TRAILER AT E3 CONFIRMED" we've cracked the Nomura code -
well you make some good points. i'm still of the opinion that they should remain as they are mainly because of the way the series poorly shifts it's stance on what these characters deserve. on paper, Re:Coded's purpose in the story actually has some good weight to it. A journey meant to show that data can grow a heart, implying other things can grow hearts as well (i.e. Nobodies). I actually like that general idea. however i feel like the games handled this new revelation a bit poorly because of how KH2 so definitively sets up Roxas and Namine's ends as the best case scenario. i mean no one even bats an eye or raises an objection to it so we as players are led to believe this is the best they can hope for. it only really starts to become a tragic ending when we start to consider outside factors that weren't even relevant when the scene was written. things from Days and DDD weren't taken into consideration when KH2 was being written and that scene where Roxas and Namine disappear at the end shows it. i was never a fan of having them come back because when we were first introduced to Roxas in KH2 and after the prologue, we're left with the idea that Roxas is a Nobody and it was his fate to disappear and return to Sora. So there's the tragic bit. But that's until we get to the end and we learn he didn't truly disappear, and neither did Namine. we learn they can still exist within Sora and Kairi and this is where their tragic story is meant to turn into a more positive one. that was my main takeaway from their little story in KH2 and it's why i'm still against this idea that they deserve to come back. maybe if the game had implied that this had to be a temporary situation for them in order to retain their sense of self or whatever, and then later Sora would have to find a way to give them their own beings, it'd be easier to swallow. the more i think about it i actually like that. it certainly would have been a good plot thread to leave up to a future sequel, as by KH2 the series has some history with leaving the fates of certain characters up in the air until next time. so again, i think on paper i like the general idea behind why Roxas and Namine ought to come back, but i guess my problem is the way it's handled in the series. obviously Nomura probably wasn't thinking this far ahead when he wrote KH2 so he didn't think to add in a scene that implied Roxas and Namine would only temporarily be in Sora and Kairi. it just bugs me from a narrative perspective because we're told one thing definitively by one game and then a few games later we're told something different without any foreshadowing from before. TL;DR i'd be more ok with Roxas and Namine coming back if the series had done a better job setting up the fact that they deserved it, basically.

KINGDOM HEARTS 15th ANNIVERSARY -Fan Memoria-
Headphone Jack replied to 143436611Xxcc's topic in Creative Media
that's looking pretty good. congrats on doing more for the 15th anniversary than Square Enix -
technically Roxas and Namine already got their happy ending in KH2. Xion is the only one who got a tragic ending. the problem here is that the narrative never established that these characters should get a "second chance" and return until just recently, which makes this all seem very forced and pandering. at the end of KH2 we see Roxas and Namine embracing their fate. they willingly return to their Somebodies because they know they can continue to exist within them and be together. originally they believed they would fade into nothingness but were proven wrong. the last we see of them is them both smiling at each other. so KH2 doesn't paint their fate to be tragic in anyway and this is a satisfying conclusion to their story. they're happy with their fate. in KH2 we were told Nobodies weren't meant to exist and Roxas and Namine basically got the best case scenario for their situation. they were able to continue existing within Sora and Kairi. with Xion her only purpose was to give Days a plot. in-game i guess her purpose was to explain why it took a year to restore Sora's memories (even though we didn't need an explanation) and to give Roxas motivation for leaving the Organization (even though we didn't need an explanation for that either). There's really no need for her to come back as far as the story is concerned. she's served her purpose from a narrative perspective. the only reason they'll be coming back is to please the fans that can't accept it when a character they like dies/goes away.

it's possible but i feel like for KH3 it would make more sense to drop that bombshell of a trailer during the press conference. KH3 is a big deal so having a surprise trailer during the Sony conference would get the most hype up imo i'd actually prefer they hold off on any trailer reveal until E3 because a new KH3 trailer should have a lot of hype and fanfare behind it. SE shouldn't just kick it out on the curb for us to find. it ought to get a nice reveal on stage.

Who do you think the Winner will be at E3 2017?
Headphone Jack replied to xXMikey1stXx's topic in General Discussion
i'll bet on Sony since they plan on doing a similar presentation to last year with the focus on the games. i thought that was a pretty good way to handle things. basically letting the games speak for themselves. plus it allowed for some fun reveals when you didn't know what was coming. i'm sure Nintendo will have some good stuff as well but i don't have a Switch and nowadays i rarely play my 3DS so who knows how invested i'll be in what they show off. more footage of the new Mario game would be great though. i'm interested to see what Microsoft does this year. it seems like they falling behind in terms of "must have games" for the Xbox One, so hopefully they'll bust out some stuff to grab peoples attention.
