I still can't really warm up to KH3's theme song Oath/Chikai. The rhythm, the lyrics and the general atmosphere really bother me. Luckily, it's only one song, but I dislike all the trailers throwing it in at some point now.
Merilly repliedOnly if it's a more upbeat version. I'm not really fond of this type of pace and tone in music because I feel that this makes it more tragic than it should be. But that's only my opinion and it won't make the game any worse just because I don't like this version. It might diminish my enjoyment of the opening though because the music sets the atmosphere a lot more than one would think and a great opening doesn't make the song any better.

TheKingdomkid repliedI understand that and my guess is that this could be the version they play for the credits and the actual opening one will be more pop like just like what they did with Simple and Clean and Sanctuary. But the more we are only hearing that part of the song the more I think that might be the case, unfortunately we won't know for sure until the game comes out or until they release the opening of Kingdom Hearts 3 just like with what they did with 0.2
Mystics Apprentice repliedI agree entirely. Oath is just not my cup of tea and I feel that it's not real befitting to the KH series, nor the scenes that it plays in. It kind of is ruining the trailers for me, but hopefully I can look past it with the game's opening.
Merilly repliedI hope this will be the case actually. The credits songs were always rather sad versions so I hope his is the case. I don't think there's a reason to make it sound so tragic for an opening because it is still KH and it should rather hype us for an epic battle, not a funeral of half the cast.

Merilly repliedunfitting. The lyrics were always a bit strange though. But still, the song does not really suit the trailers except for the first one perhaps to reveal it. Now it just seems overused and I'd raher hear Rage Awakened for the nth time than music which really disturbs the impact of the trailers with unrelated lyrics and atmosphere.

This is also different from how the music that Utada usually sings as well, the whole album is actually different from how she normally sings like how the songs are more slow and has some what of a more darker tone. Kingdom Hearts 3 being the end of the Saga and also going to have the darkest story of the games it could work
Merilly repliedIt could work, but despite everything dark, it will hopefully still be KH and that always had this underlying hope. I still think there might be a better suited version for the opening,because this kinda kills the suspense for me a little. It's not even dreadfully dark but rather melancholic and thus a little boring for me. Sounds more like a love song about losing someone dear than the intro to the final clash in the Xehanort saga. But it's okay if people like this tone.
Merilly repliedI'm not trying to ruin it for everyone who enjoys this type of music. But it's interesting that you say that not only this song is different compared to what she usually sings but the entire album. I'm not exactly a fan, despite thinking she's a good singer overall, so that's good to know. Makes me think it may not have been requested to be this gloomy.

Is it me, or do the kingdom hearts 3 more seem more linear in the beginning of the game (Olympus and maybe monster's Inc) and more open world like as we get closer to game completion (pirates world and big hero 6)

Merilly replied*look at it. Though it does mean more to me to take my time if it comes from someone who has the same problem as you do. I see a lot of people updating weekly or even several times a week while still maintaining great quality. Sure, it takes longer to write it by hand and type it off on my phone, but that's still amazing and a bit depressing. ^^' But you should also take the time you need. If it makes any difference, your Sunlight fanfiction has made me cry at least twice (Don't worry. It was in a good way.) which is something written works have made rarely me do. I absolutely adore the way you've characterized Ven in this story. Of course, that could be just me being biased. ^.^

Or have a lot of the chapters written down to a certain degree. And the length of chapters is also important. I figured that a lot of the weekly ones tend to have shorter chapters. While I make partly elaborate plans for chapters, I don't want to be too rigid when I write. Especially Sunlight has become a work that has changed drastically from my original plans once the readers became involved.Merilly repliedOf course, the essence has remained the same and some scenes have been planned from the very beginning but especially reader inserts tend to become something different. It's not necessarily a bad thing but as you said, these works are also an extension of the author so it's crucial to not getlost in always pleasing the reader as you go but also do what you want to do. You and your style may have changed drastically in the meantime, to the point where a seanless connection could even be impossible without tweaking some things. Merilly replieddoffocult character to portray because everything happening in KHUX and 3 could throw that characterization out the window and I've taken a lot of liberties with his character that people don't like. But judging by what happens to Aqua, it doesn't seem as far-fetched. Still, everything was far more taxing than I thought and while I'm sorry it made you cry, it also gives me a sense of accomplishment that I managed to make you feel something for it.
