Riku is always looking away from Sora on box art where both of them are featured. Its been confirmed by Nomura that it represents them walking two different paths. As for Kairi she just used a lot of gel back then. But if you want a serious reason why her hair doesn't move, it's probably because she's missing her heart for most of the game.

Yeah, I noticed that. And I don't see it as a big deal. It would seem weird to have him facing the other way.

Or maybe Riku turned around, because he noticed the heartless, and he was about to jump down and kill it. OoO

If you're suggesting that Riku is representing Darkness by facing that way I kinda agree. Never noticed it . Riku, you're suck a rebel, facing the other direction.

I think it symbolizes Riku giving into the Darkness and Sora and Co. are facing in the direction of Light.

The art is one of the first things that captivated me in Kingdom Hearts, and I did notice the little symbolism! They put a lot of work into the art in the game so I'm sure there is some hidden symbolism! It like foreshadows the storyline!

Maybe Cuz Riku falls into the Darkness, Mayve Everyone is looking into the light but Riku is looking into the darkness. Ever think of that??

It's because Riku's got everyone's back.

I always thought him turned the other way symbolized his struggle/darkness, and how he was taken over through it and going a different path than the path of light o.o
