People that call themselves KH "fans"...

Featured Replies

Yeah I saw someone on another site the other day, saying that they didn't like any of the KH 'spin-offs' and that they don't need to play any of the games apart from KH1&2 to understand KH3.

Ahahahahahahaha no.

I completely agree. Kingdom Hearts portable games are extremely important to the main story, and those who are missing out... are reallllllyyyy missing out.

There probably will be a recap of pertinent information somehow worked into the game. Sure it is painful for people who know what's going on, but it helps a lot for those who don't.Though I do agree that those who say "I am a KH FAN! KH FTW!" and then later say "I don't care about the side games just give me KH III." Are lying about being fans of the series. But they still can be fans of the KH games they have played and want a "3rd".

LOL He's certainly in for a RUDE! awakening.

I understand they are smart enough to won't buy every handheild for a kh game.

Let them just watch by youtube. If it is really needed. Or else buy PS3 and wait now for hd collections.

Fool. This isn't really about Kingdom Hearts 2 :(. There is no criteria for being a Kingdom Hearts fan. If some likes the series Kingdom Hearts, but doesn't much care for the side games, that's okay. There are different kinds of fans. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a thread somewhere complaining about all those "fans" who like the side games.

I agree on this, it's annoying when people claim to be fans but then say the side games are crap. I love every KH game, they're all works of art. But hey, they'll be the ones who are too confused to understand anything going on in KHIII. :P

Also, BBS and DDD are main games, they just aren't numbered. So the supposed "Side game haters" are missing out on VERY important games, too. xD

You dont need to play or like the side games to be a fan. Maybe if they said they were hardcore fans, then it would be different. There is FF fans who have only played like one title.

Posted ImageWhen they do not understand, I'll simply do this. Should've played the other games >:3

AAAAHAHAHA!

I too dislike apathetic people like that but like someone else said, there isn't a set guidline for being a fan of kingdom hearts. There are however people who appreciate it more than others. Also I haven't played KH3D, days(have watched my sister play though), coded, or Chain of Memories, yet kingdom hearts is still one of my favorite video games.

I think you can still be considered a fan even if you have only played the numbered titles.  A lot of people just aren't willing to spend a few hundred dollars on a new handheld console just so they can play the spin-off games.  Although if you're a true fan you'll at least do the research on the games you missed because you know that they are important to the overall story.  If someone thinks they can jump straight from KH2 to KH3 without playing BBS or 3D they are in for a surprise.I personally have never played 358/2 Days because I was still pretty young when it came out and there was no way in hell my parents were going to buy me a DS just so I could play one game. I still know just about all there is to know with the story though.

True enough, but I'm more or less talking about the people who don't even take the time to realize that BBS and 3D are EXTREMELY! important to understand KH3. They think they can just jump right in without knowing anything past KH2, even though the entire story completely revolves around those two games now...lol.

Fool. I'm sure when KH3 comes out, you will not have to have played BBS and 3D to get a grasp of what is happening. I played KH2 before I beat KH1, and I understood everything that was going on. Some parts, like flash backs to RE:CoM, were a little confusing, but those parts weren't necessary to understand what was going on.

So, lately, more than usual, I've been seeing a lot of "fans" (not on this site) saying stuff like "Is it KH 3? No? Then I don't care. Every other game is dead to me." That's actually almost word for word. And I see stuff like this almost on a daily basis. Shit like this really pisses me off. I'm beyond glad that they won't have a CLUE what they're playing once it comes out. They get what they deserve.

Brace yourselves. The "what's going on?!!? Posted Image" complaints are coming.

I have to agree with you, much as I'm ready to play KH3, people dont seem to get that the additional games are necessary for KH3 to actually make sense. Otherwise, we get a new story and everyone who didnt play the other games'll be like, WHAT THE HECK'S GOIN ON!? And though some of the things covered in the spin-off games are covered in flashbacks, there are some things that they dont show you.

I never played any other KH game instead of KH I and II, but I watched the walkthroughs of all of them.

These so-called KH fans don't need to play all the games, but shouldn't call the portable games "unimportant".

I agree: 358/2 Days was important to KH II's storyline, and was a good game for handheld.

I disagree. They won't know why Roxas looks like Ven. They won't know who Vanitas truly is or why he looks like Sora. They won't know why Ven is sleeping in Castle Oblivion, or know what's going on once it's changed back into Land of Departure. They won't even know who Ven IS until they mention him. They don't know the importance of the Master Keeper. They don't know that Terra is residing in Xehanort because they don't even know who the trio even are. This is considering they don't watch the cutscenes, of course.

KH1 and CoM were SIMPLE compared to the complicated mess that the story is now.

Sure it'll be entertaining, but nowhere near as if they actually know the story.

Fool. But none of that stuff really matters in terms of getting through the game.

Dont get me started on KH "fans" that dont read the reports because they are too long.

Actually, I think it would be kind of fun playing KHIII and not having played BBS. It would mean that I would be allowed to create a preferable headcanon for what I want BBS to be (thereby saving me an infinite amount of disappointment), and then you would get to have something of a mystery as you uncover things. Seeing Ven and thinking it's Roxas, for example, would be a neat sensation. Aqua's been a nonentity for the numbered titles, and doesn't add much to things by knowing her; assuming that Mickey and Riku do indeed dig her up, you would just assume that she's a new character. As for Terra, again, you could still do the reveal that the man you know as Xehanort is in fact another person all together, and it would just act as well of a bait and switch as anything else.

Not knowing who Vanitas is isn't a crime (and, in many ways, is preferable), given that he adds nothing in the long run.

Not playing DDD might be a hitch, but then again, you don't really need to play the entire game. All the plot points that matter are all lumped together at the end, and if you take twenty minutes to watch the cutscenes, you'll come out just fine.

The only game that is close to being unimportant is Re: Coded. The rest are just as important as the numbered titles.

While I have tried my best to understand the story in the year that I have been interested in the series, I will not give myself the title of 'fan' until I have fully learned the story of the series. I have paid attention to all of the titles, but I still always have questions that need to be asked.
