Wow, I just realized how similar FFI and FFXIII are.

They are far from similar. I love XIII and hate the original.

It must have have been fun back in its time, 27 years ago.

If  you want a version of the game with more story in it,play either the PSP version or for ten eighty pee pleasure play it on the android version

I expected an actual story in XIII but we can't have everything we want.

 

Final Fantasy I is a pretty old game and for it's time you know back before either of us were born it was considered successful enough to spawn the franchise many love today which I might add has a number of weak titles even in its main series so how about you complain less about something that is literally just a typical "4 Heroes try to save the world that involves crystals" kind of story.

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT A GAME THAT WAS MADE IN THE 80s FOR F***S SAKE

 

it's not like video games back then were overly concerned with the story, and I daresay that FF1's backbone plot was more developed than most games of the time

 

(that said, the game that really kickstarted FF's fame was IV...)

XIII's story was fantastic. XIII-2's story was pretty bad with the whole time travel crap. I love time travel (big Doctor Who fan here) but if you're doing it in a video game you should only have two-four places in time.

It's the first game released in 1987....it's the game that saved Square from Bankruptcy and started a successful series

 

Sure it hasn't aged well which is expected from a game released in the 80's and was a start for a formula that will be refined in future games

 

I'm not calling it a great game,but it's still at least a good game to look at and see how Final Fantasy began

Back then, we didn't care too much about story in videos games. So there wasn't really a need for one.  We just wanted to PLAY our games. Quite the concept. Isn't it?

Lol. Their opinions suck. 13 is regarded as bad by the vast majority of the fanbase over the age of 15.. Somehow it's popular with all the little kids but either way its bad. 13 and its continations are exactly what FF shouldn't be doing now.

The original game also had monsters ripped from Dungeons & Dragons. You kind of have to excuse originality and storytelling when your company is going bankrupt.

Well,it's more ripped from Dragon Quest than D&D....but Dungeons & Dragons is what started turn-based RPG basically

I had a lot of fun playing the FF1 on GBA.The story is not great,but fighting monsters and bosses is fun.The music are great amd the game looks good, especially on the PSP remake.

What the hell are you people smoking... saying Final Fantasy I doesn't have a story.

Yeah, it's few and far between, but there is a story that ties it all together. Garland does his thing, Chaos, all that marvelous Time Travel jazz.

By todays standards where every single game almost needs to have some kind of mindblowing story to be accepted, yeah, FF1 doesn't stack up.

But considering this game came from an era where stories were limited to "Sorry Mario your princess is in another castle" and "it's dangerous to go alone take this", I think FF1 holds up just fine.
