Posted April 17, 201411 yr Source: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/news/20140416_E.pdf With their contract ended, I think that KH 2.5 is done & now we have to wait for the release date. And with 2.5, Square can now work on other games like Murdered: Soul Suspect, KH3, & FF XV.
April 17, 201411 yr So, does it mean that 2.5 HD ReMix, 3, and XV are still going to be on the Playstation, but the future games from Square Enix wont be on the Playstation anymore?

April 17, 201411 yr So, does it mean that 2.5 HD ReMix, 3, and XV are still going to be on the Playstation, but the future games from Square Enix wont be on the Playstation anymore? God, I hope not. The other consoles are ok (well, except for the Kinect), but Playstation is my console of choice. I can handle playing side games on other systems, but I just can't imagine playing the main installments on anything other than a Dualshock controller. I really hope there's more to this than what we think, because I'm still awaiting my BbS Vol 2 and full on remakes of Days, Re:Coded, and DDD. Edited April 17, 201411 yr by Hero of Light XIV

This has NOTHING to do with video games. This is more about Sony than Square Enix. Sony is selling their shares with other companies as well because of their horrible financial situation. This is just business, not video games.
April 17, 201411 yr This has NOTHING to do with video games. This is more about Sony than Square Enix. Sony is selling their shares with other companies as well because of their horrible financial situation. This is just business, not video games. Alright then. I was just wondering what do they mean. I read something about this yesterday and didn't understand what they meant.
April 17, 201411 yr Link to the article. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps4-company-sony-to-sell-its-entire-stake-in-square-enix-valued-at-around-47-million/1100-6419024/ Huh. Well, what do you know... Don't worry. This event won't affect the games they are developing at the moment.

So.......the only thing different is that they aren't investing in them anymore? Things are more or less the same...in terms of what systems the games will fall on?
April 17, 201411 yr So.......the only thing different is that they aren't investing in them anymore? Things are more or less the same...in terms of what systems the games will fall on? That is correct. This does not in any way affect the video games.

April 17, 201411 yr I was looking at the comments for a while, and I found this: Just to hit the business side of this for people who are confused (because there seems to be some confusion in the comments), this doesn't really mean too much for Square Enix. For those don't know or don't remember, back when Square and Enix were two independent companies looking at a merger, Square took a massive hit with the stupendous box office failure that was Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. In response, Enix very nearly backed out of the merger, but was brought back to the table by the mutual benefactor and beneficiary of both companies, Sony, which shored up the then-very-shaky situation Square was in by buying a large chunk of Square's stock. With Square Enix on the path to fiscal security with Eidos doing well, their mobile division making healthy returns, and FFXIV: A Realm Reborn doing fantastically well, Sony selling this portion of stock doesn't really mean anything to Square Enix's bottom line. That 8.2% wasn't a controlling share, it wasn't why Square Enix was making PS4 exclusives, and it almost certainly means absolutely nothing for the business relationship between Square Enix and Sony going forward. All this really amounts to is Sony giving up one kind of asset (stock) for another kind of asset they need more of right now (money) so they can pay off some of their long-standing liabilities. This guy seems to know what he's talking about. I hope he's right.

April 17, 201411 yr He is right. Although Square Enix aren't making any PS4 exclusives. Yeah, I noticed that too. Unless he means FFXIV, which would kinda make sense if you're talking strictly next gen
April 17, 201411 yr Yeah, I noticed that too. Unless he means FFXIV, which would kinda make sense if you're talking strictly next gen Well FINAL FANTASY XIV was originally going to be on Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well, but Microsoft refuse to have their games sharing servers with PlayStation games.
April 17, 201411 yr Well FINAL FANTASY XIV was originally going to be on Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well, but Microsoft refuse to have their games sharing servers with PlayStation games. Huh, I wasn't aware of that. The more you know
April 17, 201411 yr Should I be expecting Kingdom Karting on the Wii U now? inb4 people spamming quotes on you saying it can't come despite being an old Ps2 game I gave up on using reason with the KH fanbase a long time ago so.......yeah
April 22, 201411 yr That is correct. This does not in any way affect the video games. So we will still get KH games on PS4 in the future? And other Sony consoles?
April 22, 201411 yr So we will still get KH games on PS4 in the future? And other Sony consoles? Kingdom Hearts and FINAL FANTASY games will continue as normal. This is just business. Also, anyone thinking Square Enix would stop developing for the most powerful video game console ever is crazy.
