Most people aren't watching Re:coded or 358/2 Days

Posted

The PlayStation 4's trophies section shows only 20% of people who have ever inserted HD 1.5 ReMIX into their PS3 have watched all the 358/2 Days cinematics, and for Re:coded it's even worse with only 18% of people who ever inserted HD 2.5 ReMIX in their PS3 to watch all of the cinematics.

Well, they last too long and are really boring so watching them is the most difficult trophy you can get in any existing game.   358/2 Days had nothing interesting to show players who had already pl

I think doing that is even more pointless than making the HD cinematics in the first place. Yeah so they weren't as exciting as the game, so what? At least they were represented at all. Sure, I'd much

Ahh, right.

Well, now we're just left to wonder if they'll make KH3D HD and if they know how to generate Hype and keep people interested in KH3.

If they do, they better outsource it.

Damn, I keep forgetting that Re:coded has cinematics.....

The PS4 trophy section? I think I just travelled through time .

I really wonder how a KH3D HD would work out, since they are able to make one, yet they don't know what to do with it.

If only there was gameplay in-between the scenes then it would have been good. It goes for most of the KH games. I enjoy the cutscenes but if you remove the gameplay and only keep the cutscenes it'll be a drag to watch them.

the cinematics were pretty lame

so yeah

most people probably watched on youtube anyways

Not too surprised, most people don't really put in a game disc to watch a movie

Chances are some of these people have already played the originals too

Most people didn't like Re:coded. That's a fact.

That actually sucks.

Re:Coded was a really good game nevertheless it was just a repetition of facts already known in the KH series.

The gameplay was really fun. Great potential of a DS game.

Well mostly because most of the fandom already played those two either on their DS or through emulation

Wait... They detect a number of people obtaining trophies from a game?!

Like what you said about, the trophies you obtain from watching Re: Coded and 358/2 Days.

Well, part of it is that the trophies don't pop until you're nearly all done watching (and not until you actually exit, anyway), it's less of a system of progression than, say, KH1. But yeah, people didn't get them for those cinematics, the whole point was for games they had previously played.Personally, I liked both of them. Re:Coded was interesting because just when you think it's approaching the end, the whole Castle Oblivion plot kicks in, and dragged on for a fair bit. But poignant all the same.

Most PlayStation trophy viewers (Vita, mobile app, PS4) show the percentage of people who have acquired the same trophy; in the case of these cinematics, there's a small percentage of the people who have actually watched it. This of course isn't accounting for people who may be accidentally/intentionally not signed in or who don't sync their trophies ever, but compared to the trophy earnings of the other games (which actually require, y'know, doing things) it certainly looks like people just don't feel like watching them.

Man... I didn't know that was possible. I should've known this type of knowledge, but I don't know much of the PS3.

I loved the cinematic versions too. I don't really care how long or short the battle cutscenes are. I just only wish to enjoy the series by playing the game, watching a number hour movie, and loving the story. I don't really care if they jumped to console to console, or a smartphone. I just want to enjoy Kingdom Hearts, despite the prices of stuff can be hectic.

358/2 Days is my favorite KH game, and the Clock Tower scenes were some of my favorite parts of the game game. I was still bored while watching the HD cut-scenes.

Re:coded was good for its gameplay, the story itself just wasn't good at all. The HD cut-scenes, then, cut out the only worth while portion of the game.

That said, I watched all the HD cutscenes for both. I would've loved if they had remade them as real games. Heck, if they couldn't do it for PS3 for whatever reason, I would've loved 3DS versions. If work load is a concern, outsource them (actually, weren't both of them originally outsourced?).

Yeah, remaking a game as a 3 hour "movie" is stupid. They could have just done KHFM, Re:CoM, KH2FM & BbSFM and be done with it.

I think doing that is even more pointless than making the HD cinematics in the first place. Yeah so they weren't as exciting as the game, so what? At least they were represented at all. Sure, I'd much rather have a full on game remake of both games, but I'd rather take what we got rather than not have it at all. If they were made the way you suggested, then we would have the opposite problem, people would be complaining that there wasn't ANY representation for those games (well, maybe not as much for Re:Coded, but the point still stands). They could have always been better in a thousand different ways, but the way I see it it was better to have tried and failed than to have never tried at all.

And in defense of the entire idea of a HD cinematic remake, they would have been more interesting if they had included fight scenes in both of them and they fleshed them out to be way better than they were in Re:Coded, have fights that last 1:30 to 2 minutes rather than 15 to 30 seconds. They needed to be improved, not abandoned altogether. And if not that, then sure, leave KH & Re:CoM and KH2 & BbS by themselves, but create full on HD remakes of the remaining DS and 3DS titles and make them into one collection. I swear, it's either one way or the other around here...  >.>

It's probably because people think they are "side" games.

Agreed. I'd obviously rather have HD remakes of both games with tighter controls and improved systems, but I understand that we live in the real world and in the real world it's not always feasible to basically design two new games for a relatively small audience. There has to be some way to incorporate the story for people who haven't/don't want to play those games into the story, because we all know for better or worse, story is hugely important in KH, and if remade cutscenes is all they can spare, fine. Neither collection is great, but it's so much better than nothing.

It's probably because people think they are "side" games.

More probably that they know they're just cutscenes and don't care enough about the story or their trophy list to watch them (or even just set it to autoplay and do something else).

That's basically the same thing.

I misunderstood, I thought you meant people were assuming they were just the ports of DS games.

Should have said "side" stories tbh..

I'm totally interested, I tired to watch the Japanese cut scenes a couple years ago but my mom ended up chiding in me for not doing my assignment even though it was spring break.  After that I just never got around to it.

so am i like one of the only people who sat down with a bag of popcorn sat back and watched both cinematic's happily (Not saying they were good just saying happily since it was kingdom hearts)

  • 3 weeks later...

I will watch both of them. From the beginning to the end.

I only watched Days seriously. And partially just for trophies. Only skimmed through ReCoded for the trophies. So that also includes the people who just did what I did for ReCoded

No. That's how I tried to watch them at first, but they got boring really quickly and I was begging for them to end halfway through.
