Like it plays a part sure, the grandma and all, but death actually plays a part in many Disney things lol Coco however is explicitly about it, same with Soul, another Pixar movie

They said in the panel that the theme is one_ way to chose world, not _the way, seems like they mostly chose around gameplay/experience at the end of the day

All I know is that if we get Moana but instead of being with Moana we're with her dead grandma instead like a Marshmellow situation. I'll have mixed feelings. X/

Though speaking of Moana. I hope if it's a retelling of the movie. We get to see Sora confronting Maui after he leaves Moana post staff breaking. We never saw it in the actual film. So it'd be nice to see Sora convincing Maui to return to Moana - maybe even relating to Maui losing his staff to how he once lost his keyblade but still went on to help a friend?
