    Ib and Witch's House. You can give Misao a whirl if you want a horror game with black comedy. The Mad Doctor is made by the same folks and is relatively less... out to get you. Mermaid Lagoon and Desert Nightmare aren't my favorites but I mostly enjoyed myself with those. On the non-horror (mostly) side, Yume Nikki and its spinoffs can be fun if you're into exploration and weird crap.

    We'll. it depends on your idea of better. There are literally thousands of styles and techniques, so sometimes it can be tricky to determine. If you're the type of artist who uses their talents to make money, then yeah competition can be a problem. However, once you're truly comfortable in what you do, and how you create, then the idea of "people are better than me" can become second nature. You begin to create for yourself, more so than the public.
