As annoying as it can be to see people in the Pokemon fanbase fight over what generation is the "best," it does make me realize something that makes me appreciate the series even more: someone can be completely justified in saying any generation is their favorite. I don't think there are many series with such a diverse group of opinions on which entry is the best.
Shulk repliedGen V is definitely my second favorite. The original B/W were great, and B2/W2 improved on the original in every way. I put a ton of time into the Gen V games, and I can't wait until I get on to those in my anniversary playthroughs! Almost halfway into Platinum now, so it's not much longer.
AngelTheWeirdStranger repliedI love the story and the characters in B/W. Even the Gym Leaders were give extra time to develop as characters instead of just being just another person to fight. B2/W2's story wasn't as good but it improved gameplay wise and the time skip was a nice idea. Gen 4 is my second favorite because I have given LOTS of time on that. Until X/Y, Pearl was my best game and Platinum one of my most played. X)
Shulk repliedThe story was definitely one of B/W's greatest strengths. I think the Unova region was also just one of the most well-made regions in the series, too. B2/W2 was mostly just gameplay improvements, but that brought a lot of content in. Time skips are cool too (Silver's my first favorite, so I guess that shows how much I like those.

The whole region is mostly a circle, but B2/W2 improved on that too. Still, the mythology and story of the region was really fun. Gen 4 may not be all that good, I agree, but I love all the Time-Spacey, mythology stuff. Plus Cynthia is THE best Champion ever. I haven't played Gen 1 and 2 so I guess my least favorite is Gen 6. Despite being awesome as well, it had no post game and the story was mediocre.
Shulk repliedI'd agree that Unova was linear, although I loved all the different locations it had. It felt alive, which is one of my favorite things about Gen V. As for Gen IV, I also really like the mythology it presents. Cynthia's one of my all-time favorite characters, too.
I'm a little torn on where to place Gen VI. It didn't have much for post game, but I did personally like X/Y's adventure, and seeing the Pokemon world in full 3D for the first time was incredible.AngelTheWeirdStranger repliedYeah, I get what you said about B/W feeling alive. It region felt connected somehow. And yeah, I liked Gen 6 too, it had its moments and it was fun exploring a new region in 3D with all those new features. But, it was also very forgettable and easy to get through. The characters were all generic and forgetable, with Shauna being an exception.
Shulk repliedYeah, there weren't a whole lot of interesting characters (Shauna being the only rival outside of Serena/Calem that seemed really interesting), but it did also bring in the whole Looker sidequest, which was a plus.
Team Flare was also a fun enemy team to deal with. X/Y had a lot of potential that went unused, but I still really loved exploring a big 3D region. I'm certain that Sun and Moon are going to fix a lot of Gen VI's issues, too.AngelTheWeirdStranger repliedI found Serena/Calem very forgettable. Shauna was the only one who stood out from the group of rivals because she had time by herself, plus that scene where she flirts with you is one of the most memorable.
The Looker sidequest was AMAZING. Emma was a really awesome character, seeing Looker return was great and the whole story was really cool. I found Team Flare funny but a bit generic. I don't remember them doing much other than show up here and there. Shauna stood out the most though, I'd agree with that. I didn't get the flirting scene though, since I was playing as Serena. Looker's one of my favorite characters, so it was great seeing him back. Team Flare was pretty funny, and Lysandre was an interesting leader.AngelTheWeirdStranger repliedI'm pretty sure it was confirmed that Shauna actually develops feelings for the player no matter what gender which is a nice touch from Nintendo and I kind of wish we had a choice to end up in a relationship with her.
And Lysandre was also really cool. He had bit more story to him and we even see him cry which was nice because that adds to his character instead of having him be a 1-Dimensional villain. And yeah, the firework scene when I noticed as well. And yeah, I completed the National Dex as well, with a few Event Pokemon missing and unless I buy Y or transfer all the Pokemon to the next Gen, then Gen 6 will not be replayed for some time.

Though admitably I didn't really try that much in the Battle Frontier in Emerald, I wanted to try my chances in OR because I was better at the game and felt like I could do it. Buuuuut we got the same Battle Resort. Such a let down.

Aside from that one changed line, it still has the same feeling, so it's the only proper explanation I can think of.You can use Pokemon Bank with just one 3DS, too. It has a $5 a year subscription fee, but that's pretty cheap compared to most other things. It also makes it a lot easier to transfer over a ton of Pokemon from one game to another.
Shulk repliedI was going to attempt to complete the Battle Frontier in my Emerald playthrough this year, but I had to go on to Platinum since I'm falling behind. I was really hoping that OR/AS could at least get the Battle Frontier as an update or something like that. Maybe it'll come back in Sun and Moon.

Unfortunately instead of worrying about the games they do like, nowadays all the FF fanbase is worried about is knocking XIII.
Shulk repliedI usually just see people say VII, VIII, or X, with the occasional VI thrown in. Even XIII seems like it's becoming one of the more popular choices these days, honestly. With Pokemon, you're just as likely to see any of them, while I've never seen someone say that one of the original 3 FFs is their favorite, or XI for that matter.
Clouded Sun repliedPoint is, each one is a favorite just like Pokémon I'd say. People pick and choose their favorites. And you'll notice that almost always comes up in any FF series discussion (personally, my favorite one is...). If the fanbase wasn't split, there wouldn't be qualm about FFXV's gameplay.

I wonder oif players of 'Breath of the wild' will try and give themselves ridiculous challenges like the 'no weapons challenge' or 'clotheless link challenge'. It'd be similar to KH's Critical mode, Lv 1, no exp, Kingdom Key only challenge.
WakingDawn96 repliedI don't think you could literally beat a Zelda game without using weapons. Weapons seem like a big factor in beating a Zelda game. But the clotheless Link thing seems 100% likely.
catmaster0116 repliedIn the new game, Link can equip/unequip clothes lol. From the videos that are out so far some players have challenged themselves to playing the demo using link in his underwear which is hilarious. But it seems Nintendo hasn't taught link self defence without a weapon yet. There might be those 'Use a stick only' challenge or something
