If you could, would you rather skip Roxas's prologue?

Posted

I know its vital to the story and all, but for me, IT DRAGS ON SO LONG. Seriously. The sidequests to find the 7 wonders of Twilight Town makes it even worse. I don't mind playing it the first few times, but having to play through it EVERY TIME YOU GO THROUGH KH2, makes it REALLY annoying.

If only Nomura could let you skip it and head on the Sora's way more fun story.

Hells no! That's one of the best parts of the game! Maybe not the most exciting but very touching, sad, and tragic.

I liked it, and I liked the way it tied back in when Sora goes to Twilight Town and meets Roxas' 'friends'. But I understand how it could get annoying, so maybe it'd be nice if after the first time you've played it, you could skip it.

As much as I like Roxas, I wouldn't hesitate to skip the tutorial if I could.  It's long, tiresome, excessive, and really isn't needed to complete the game.  I wish it were optional.

i loved it first time through but would be handy to haave the option like in bbs, i've played it 16 times and its starting to annoy me

i can however get it done in 15-20 minutes : P

Yes, I dread that 2 hour long "tutorial"

if you skip scenes and rush 20-15 minutes :)

I love Roxas and we shouldn't be able to skip the story, but from a gameplay perspective, it's not really... good.  At the least, they could make it less tedious.  The part where you need to save up munny, for instance, is totally repetitive.  Maybe more skilled writing would have given us the full story in a shorter time (brevity is the soul of wit, after all), so we don't have to slog through too many things to get the full scope.

you can go to station heights without getting 1200 but you don't get 2 ap, you don't have to collect any munny.

I honestly really enjoyed the Roxas part. It was cool to get to know Roxas' role throughout that entire part. As for the idea of a speed run trophy, it's obvious that the longest part of Roxas' story are the cutscenes, but we all skip through scenes and what not to make speed runs, so I see no problems there.

The only thing I liked about it was the skateboarding and the dual wielding Keyblade battle against Axel.

I guess I liked Twilight Town's peacefulness too, and the characters.. Other than that, it wasn't a lot of fun.

nah, i really hate skipping things, i don't even skip the beginning events in BBS

To be honest,I loved and hated the tutorial in Roxas's story at a same time...

Well, it was better than the Kingdom Hearts introduction (get the mushrooms, race Riku, like dafuq)

It was okay the first few times, but after more playthroughs I just wish I could skip the majority of it, maybe leaving the Twilight Thorn and Axel fights, but skip the other parts. The tutorial just begun to feel slow to me, more slow than the KH1 one. But after playing 358/2 Days, I really wished that I was able to jump the prologue, not only because it was slow, but because of Roxas. That Roxas no longer felt like real to me, after playing 358/2 Days, it just begun to feel like a puppet who didn't know its strings were being moved. The Roxas I actually attached too, was no longer there, it was still him, but with a new personality given by Ansem the Wise. Which made me  hate him a little for awhile but I have gotten over it, but not over that new Roxas personality thing. But yeah, if I could I would jump the Roxas's prologue of the game, and have the important things from it, to be explain in a cutscene later on in the game.

Not the entire thing. But I could really do without the 'Seven Wonders of Twilight Town' part. That whole thing just seemed kind of pointless.

YES. I. WOULD.

Was okay the first time, and was important, but I hate having to start a new game and going through it, ugh. Hell, one of these days I'm gonna push through it one more time and save right after its over, and just continue on from that file everytime I start a new game.

Roxas Fans probably think right now "The Sora Part drags on so long, just let it out."

LMFAO!!!!!!!!

I saw this and just started laughing.

I can see it now

-*Plays tutorial...........Wins*  "What the hell?"-

YES. I. WOULD.

That what he should have done instead of posting this hateful thread

Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not the last one! o.0

I wouldn't because KH2 was the first game of Kingdom Hearts I ever played, so I was like "wtf is going on here!?". Replaying it makes me remember playing that part with my two brothers.

Not the last one! o.0

Good point. I forgot about that last one. Meh.

I wouldn't skip it for the world. I think the juxtaposition of seeing how Roxas is before turning over to Sora is an integral part of the series. To skip the Roxas introduction is to skip out on character development, important story matters, and an intensely emotional finish to his short journey. I cried my butt off when I heard "Looks like my summer vacation... is over...", and I wouldn't have had I not spent that time with Roxas.

This is all especially true if you're playing the games in order. Because then you have 358/2 Days as a precedent, and with that you get to see how Roxas himself was forced to change by forces beyond his control. And that also is very powerful...

So in closing, I think the Roxas introduction is an important bridge that both displays the differences and intracacies of Sora and Roxas' characters, and also serves as a means to close off Days. Wouldn't skip it for the world.

And from a technical stand point, it doesn't make sense either... since Roxas' level and items transferred to Sora. Sora would start off with nothing, and he's not meant to from a gameplay standpoint.

Yeaah...first time is okay but it becomes annoying after 3 times.

Yes I would skip it.

It's long. I skip the cutscenes and rush trough it just to get to the mansion part.

Sometimes I think I would but I don't actually think I would. There are some parts that are really enjoyable.

I saved the game after I got to play as Sora, and made sure to NEVER overwrite it, so that if I wanted to play the game again, I'd just load the game from there.

I like the cut scenes but it does become a little pointless after multiple plays

I think that it took forever to get through yet was still an incredibly important part to the story.  It enhanced the game that much more, but only the first few times.

I love roxas's prologue!!!  :P

I would like to skip some parts but not the whole prologue.
