Is There Anyone Else Who Doesn't Care About Romance in KH?

Posted

A lot of people seem to argue over what romantic relationships should form in KHIII, and honestly, I don't care. Sure, there are some people who I like the idea of them being together, but I really don't care if any relationships become canon in the KH series. In fact, I honestly think that the series might be better off without them. KH has never been about romance, so why throw that in so late in the series? Just feels unnecessary to me. I know I'm going to get mauled by the SoKai/SoRiku/RoxasXNamine/Roxion/AkuRoku fans, but I just wanted to know if there's anyone else who feels the same way. :/

And like I said earlier, there ARE some relationships that I like the idea of. I just think it'd be better off if the series didn't make those canon.

Don't you know the rules?  There's no such thing as a meaningful connection unless it's romantic.

Oh, right, I'd completely forgotten. All relationships are instantly romantic in video games, especially KH. My apologies.

I don't particularly care if Sora and Kairi get together, though they've been pushing that for the past couple games, so they may as well do something with it.

Disney is a company all about the romance, though. Almost all - if not every single one - of their movies have some sort of romance involved. So, it makes sense.

Oops, forgot that too.

I feel like if they DO push a relationship in the series, that's the only one that wouldn't feel completely awkward and forced since they've been hinting it since the start. Still, seeing Sora suddenly trying to act romantic or whatever would be completely out of place. xD

Well romance isn't really that big of a deal in Kingdom Hearts

Sure the relationship between Sora and Kairi is romantic, but is it as effectively romantic as Cecil and Rosa?? No,and that's coming from me whose favorite character is Sora

Cecil and Rosa's love was waaay stronger than the one between Sora and Kairi, heck at the end of Final Fantasy 4 they (Spoiler in white) GOT MARRIED,something that barely happened in most romantic relationships as most of them in either movies,games,anime...etc are either ends up with just a sex in bed with no conclusion on how the relationship went

That's why Cecil and Rosa are my favorite couple in video game history

I don't really have a preference to romance.  Granted I don't really care about it in games in general.  so long that it isn't rushed or comes out of nowhere, I'm okay with it.

Personally, I think romance is both critical and inconsequential to the Kingdom Hearts series, and it's because of its two bases: Square Enix and Disney.Sure Final Fantasy has had the occasional romantic relationship, but the series mostly focuses on the various bonds people form with one another (friendship, family, etc.). Disney however, is notorious for a romantic relationship in nearly every film they have put out. Very much like their movie counterparts, the motivation for most of the Disney characters in KH is their romantic attraction for someone. To deny the romantic side of KH is silly, but to make it the prominent theme is equally as silly. KH is about bonds the hearts make, both romantically and otherwise. As far as the original KH characters go, I think the only definite canon romantic relationship is Sora & Kairi. There has been too much buildup for that one to occur, that if it doesn't, it would definitely be a sour note, for me anyway. I can really take or leave any other pairings.

Id be happy if Sora and Kairi have more of a developed relationship as a whole, they've been separate throughout most of the series so it be nice if they developed the relationship, regardless of the romance aspect.

Well that and actually develop Kairi more.

It would be different if they hadn't been hinting at a romantic connection between Sora and Kairi since the beginning, but since they have I will feel incredibly betrayed if they don't at least tell each other face to face by the end of III.

It's too late for them to drop it so they need to resolve it. They can't just keep dropping hints that go nowhere, it's annoying.

I understand that, but honestly, I just think it would feel kinda forced if they put them in a relationship. We've gone so long seeing them as just friends, it would feel kinda weird otherwise. Besides, I can't picture Sora actually pulling off a relationship without it being really awkward. :/

How would feel it be forced if they've been building it up for over 10 years? Besides, some girls think awkward is cute and Kairi seems like one of those.

I get the feeling they'd force it down the player's throat and constantly remind them "HEY THEY'RE IN A RELATIONSHIP". And I meant as a player it would be awkward to watch Sora be in a relationship, at least for me.

I think it's a completely terrible idea to put in romance, especially in KH.

I like romance, but only when it's not over board what they have now in KH is fine for me.

Every Disney Princess gets a Prince so yes I do care

But they're already kind of forcing the fact that they have feelings for each other down our throats, so it's wouldn't really be that much of a change

"I'm searching too"

"For your light?"*nod*"Don't loose sight of it"

"Sora and I never met, I was never his friend."

"And you were never anything more either""But when you thought of her just once, it went back to the way it was, She's your light, the light within the darkness"

"Hey Sora, why's your face all red?""What? It is not red!""Aww I know who your'e thinking about."

"You are the flame the feeds Sora's rage"

"One day when you're in danger, the light within you will lead you to the light of another. Someone to keep you safe."

I'm sure there are others.

Wouldn't care less about the romance of Kingdom Hearts; I'm more fascinated and invested with the story than anything else. It's obvious Sora and Kairi will be with one another in the end: good for them. Roxas and Naminé: good for them... I think. Riku and Xion... *Shrugs.* Terra and Aqua, possible. Regardless: right now the story is more important than any potential romances in the game. Unless in the future they were to make the new Saga one where they all go to prom... Hehehehehehehe... Right now we leave the story to the creators, and the romance to the fans. ...*Still muttering that people prefer TerraXAqua over VenXAqua for nine years now.* So in the end: it really does not matter entirely for now.

I never thought romance was the sole focus in KH. It was more friendship (even if that does sound cheesy). I'd prefer it not to have romance anyway as I really don't think it will be satisfying at all, In Sora and Kairi's case a romantic relationship is something I never really saw, just a friend looking out for another friend. They hint at possible romantic ties but gathered with the source material and what this series started off as, I don't think a romantic relationship is needed. Maybe a hint of one like holding hands but a full blown on lovey dovey type deal, I just don't think it will suit it at all.

My thoughts exactly. A romantic relationship would feel completely out of place, since that's never been the focus of KH before. I always preferred it with them all just being friends. Maybe a little bit of Sora and Kairi would be all I could really take in KH relationships.

Romance in Kingdom Hearts? HAHAHAHAHAHA... get out of here.

The only romance I like in KH isn't between a boy and a girl and it's obviously only in my head. I wouldn't even like it if it would actually be in KH and it won't ever be anyway.

About Sora and Kairi, I wouldn't care, if it became more than it currently is.
