Hello fellow Kingdom hearts freaks!

 

Aang here with an interesting topic I thought of out of utter bordeom. Will Riku have a romantic interest in Kingdom Hearts III? As far as I can recall he's never had a girlfriend, never talked about girls, or romance considering himself at all. I understand Nomura isn't a big fan of love, and hasn't done it much.

 

Riku is in his late teens/early adulthood and not once has he talked about crushes, or romance at all. Do you want to see Riku find a sweetheart? Should he remain the rouge, loner for the rest of his life? Let me know in the comments section below?

If Riku wasn't attractive how come he's my favorite character?

 

I don't know is SE will do it but he will probably find a sweetheart, or a sweetheart will find him.

 

If Dawn-chan was a video game character this decision would have been easy to make.

Probably not. I don't think he should, anyhow. They poked fun at his relative inability to deal with flirty girls, but I don't think he should really have an LI.

i have to say no to this because maybe if Sora and Kairi get together and Riku with a girlfriend too... it just wouldn't be the same

No. Riku is the third wheel and always will be. Hopefully.

I don't know. They really haven't brought up a girl for Riku. And if he does get a girl in KH3 she'll have to be in Destiny Islands. But also, Riku's inability to flirt with girls is getting in the way for Riku to have a girlfriend. Not saying it impossible, but it's a slim chance.

But in all seriousness, the game series' core value/theme is friendship, with a little romance between Sora and Kairi of course. But personally that's the only romance I would want from the series because Sora and Kairi deserve to be together. They went through so much just to see each other, and I loved that hug they shared in The World That Never Was in KH II. Did you know that scene was originally meant to be a kiss according to Nomura :ohmy: but apparently he changed it last minute... Oh god I'm rambling aren't I? But this should tell you one thing: that the only pairing should be SoKai, thus my opinion is no; Riku should not have a romantic interest (unless her name was Neera ^_^ ) in KH III.

I wouldn't mind it, but her kicka** level has to be on par with Riku's

Lets make it official, Riku x Aqua, Lets face it. They both got deemed keyblade masters, They both never backed out of the light. They both have unique powers, They both sacrificed themselves to help a friend. I think it makes perfect sense for Aqua and Riku to fall in love. But Kingdom Hearts always defies logic.

Riku's journey has been one about self discovery and overcoming one's own self. Having a romantic interest would not work with that story line. A future KH title? Perhaps.

Time flows differently in Kingdom hearts, I don't believe characters age regularly, Plus its a 12 year difference, as a child my parents were 11 years of age apart and they were married for a long time. So if they did "age" i don't see a huge problem. haha

I'm talking about in their exams. They both came with the light. No back-outs. Not like how Terra and Sora did on their exams. Though Sora didn't know what was happened at the time and terra got tricked. Which wasn't his fault.

I would like for it to happen, but I highly doubt it. Riku has always been depicted as the loner of KH, and I really don't see that changing anytime soon(not unless he gets together with Kairi in the end, God forbid! ) And there would be no point in introducing a love interest for Riku this late in the game. (I made a pun. ) Now if Riku survives the battle in KH3, and appears in the next installment, then I think there is room for him to develop a romance with someone.

Woah. Where did you hear about them originally going to kiss? Because, I actually heard about that somewhere a long time ago but I didn't know if it was true or not.

Hmm... perhaps. It probably won't happen, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it's revealed Riku has romantic feelings for a female character, although I doubt  they'd make a big deal about it. If they do though, it'd probably be Xion, if I had to make a guess. They already know each other, which means they wouldn't have to spend too much time establishing their relationship. Besides, it just seems to me like their personalities work together pretty well. Riku's biggest problem is that he's kind of a dark and gloomy loner, and I think Xion's upbeat nature and the way she cares for others could help bring him out of his shell. Xion's biggest problem, meanwhile, is her lack of self confidence, something that will probably be even greater in KHIII, considering that she now knows that she was created from other people's memories, the memories of someone else entirely. I feel Riku would be able to help her gain self confidence. Now, do I want them to become boyfriend and girlfriend in KHIII? Of course not! But I wouldn't mind if they develop feelings for each other in the upcoming game.

Riku doesn't do too well with girls to say the least, remember the incident with Shiki in Traverse Town in Dream Drop Distance?

I say Naminé! They did spend a year working together to restore Sora so...who knows what happened off-screen during that year?
