Do you think that games in general lose importance to someone as they get older and older?

I don't think so, just think about... people are still laughing at old episodes of Spongebob Squarepants sooooo.... Naaaahhhh

With me it depends, some old games in the past are very fun games still compared to newer games; Games like Pokemon X & Y after awhile lose interest as well. MMO's never lose interest as long as they update it from time to time and maintain keeping it fun for everybody. So yeah, it depends.

The types of games change for sure but I feel gaming once it gets in your blood you aren't leaving anytime soon.

For me, it's a passion. For others its just a game like you would play candy land or something.

In my personal opinion, games do not lose any of their importance, we are the ones who forget the importance of games.  You see, games are a gateway to another world.  In video games we find entertainment, emotional stories, funny characters, violent battles, sensible themes, just about everything you can imagine!  Video games will always be important to people because people value video games in different ways!  Sometimes there are people that stop playing video games because they are too busy with work and stuff, but I believe that you can always dedicate a little time to games.  I know I always do!

I think most people who are "too old for video games" just think it's something that only children are supposed to do. Hell, i know 11th graders that think that people their age aren't supposed to play video games, though they fortunately don't bother me about it

So my answer will be nah,if you're passionate enough about your happy,you can still remain passionate about games,animes,movies....etc regardless of your age

It depends on the person, but I voted for the first choice. 

 

Some people play games because that is what they do. Games are meant to be played, duh. 

Older people make the video games. Tetsuya Nomura is only six days older than my father. People have different paths. 

 

I never was a video game junkie. KH is the only franchise that I play regularly. I read the interviews keep up with the news. However, people move on with their lives. I am going to college for Medicine (Sports Medicine, Oncology, or Pathology) which I love. So, I won't have as much time to play like I used to especially if I want to go to Duke for Med school. I need to spend my time volunteering and studying and being with friends, so somethings are going to be on the back burner. 

 

In high school, I could not follow KH much because of AP classes, work, band, and other afterschool activities. Every moment could not be wasted. I moved a lot also. 

 

As you get older, more things are prioritized. There is nothing wrong with that.

Guilty as charged.I have to say yes in response to the question, only because many people I know have lost interest in video games. But in all, it really depends on the person. I think it's rather sad to see people who love video games like no other soon forget about it when they're older.I always told myself no matter what KH will be my favorite till the day I die because of my personal attachment to it. The reason why I'm so strong with this is because I just see so many people grow up, and everything change around me. People grow up, and become victims to the darkness of society. I never want to be like that. Walt Disney himself even said that "That's the problem with this world. Too many people grow up." (Found this quote in a yearbook. Dunno if it's actually true)I just see people forget about their interest in the past, and it makes me so sad. And what I think about is what my twelve year old self would think. I wouldn't want my twelve year old self not wanting to get older because of something so important being 'old or kiddy.' In all, I wouldn't want what mattered the most to me to be remembered the least when I'm older.

That depends entirely on the person. A game that may seem lame to me 10 years from now, may be a national treasure to someone else.

Yes and no, sometimes I still find old stuff funny and other times if I watch something so many times my brain turns off and I don't laugh. It all depends on the game or show.

Depends on things.

My grandparents still enjoy going to movies, reading, sport etc. So I think our childhood passions generally continue into old age.

I dunno. I've been playing games since I was 4 and my enjoyment of them hasn't decreased in the 14 years since. In fact, I've only enjoyed them more. My cousin is 28 and even though he doesn't have as much time to play, he still loves games just as much as anyone else.

 

Hell, my GRANDMA, who has never touched a videogame in her life, suddenly always wanted to play games on our tablet whenever she comes over. I think that basically proves my overall point that games aren't a fad or a phase. They're like any other type of medium of entertainment that's as widely used as movies or books. Sure, some people eventually 'get over' gaming, but I don't think they've been around long enough (in the way they are now) for us to really judge whether or not it's common for a modern gamer to just 'grow up' and stop enjoying them.

Probably depends on who the person is, but as for me, I don't see myself ever getting tired of playing video games. I mean, that kinda comes with all of my future job interests.

As long as the media has soul I will always like it, it does not matter how old I am or how young I am, Soul lasts forever and anything with soul will give me inspiration!

Depends on the person really. There are so many factors that come into play. I'm not going into too much depth, but basically as a person gets older, more important aspects of life become prioritised. People may still carry that love for video games as they did when they were younger, but time becomes an issue as you grow older. But I think I'll love Kingdom Hearts for it is always, and I'll never stop playing it! It's the only game series I've payed close attention to, so I won't give up on it.

I guess it depends of the person. For example I have two older brothers. One sees the games I play as childish (like Pokémon or Kirby, even KH), but the other, who is the oldest, doesn't look at them like that, for him they are games like any other. And they both played the same games as kids. So yeah, it depends of the person.

I will always love games. Games have been there for me all the way through my childhood till now. If it weren't for Kingdom Hearts. I would never have gotten into gaming and furthermore, wouldn't have found this site and met so many amazing people.

I think it really depends on the person, which was the option I chosen.There is many factors that contributes some people stop playing games, but not all of them applies to each person that stopped playing.As many stated, some because they don't have much free time, some for having other priorities, some for "getting over"/"growing up" (to me this is being a sheep when they answer like that), some is because it doesn't have that much of strong impact on them anymore (or never had it really to begin with), depends how each person sees and treats a video game and genres they enjoy. 

I think those who keep playing it's for leisure and also enjoy immersive visual storytelling.

I would say it depends on the person.  There's times where I'm in the mood to play a game, but I have to disallow myself to focus on getting work done.  I would only assume unless you're going into Games Development that with most other jobs you simply don't have much time for them with work, family and raising a new family, pets, social life etc.  Kids especially will take up an awful lot of your time, there's no real free time with toddlers or young children until they're asleep or napping.

games change in style. But the individual game never changes. It's US who change. Some people get over it. Others dont. I hope i'll be able to be the latter later in life. The first group tends to think that games are childish and immature, but that's a major misunderstanding. When we grow up , some of us tend to change our perspective. Sometimes in an extreme way. Every single activity we did as teens/children is reduced to an understatement such as "oh, that was just a kiddish thing". The life of a gamer isn't childish, it's just different.

 

im not an adult yet, but i assume that when growing up, some assume that it's necessary to abandon these things in order to mature. If im wrong, please correct me but i believe that doing that is wrong.

 

so what im saying is that it all depends on the person. It's up to the choices we make as we grow up in life. Either we choose to unnecessarily leave everything we did as adolescents behind and become grown up, or become a grown up but still pursue some of the things we did as children. either way is fine, i just find the first a little too extreme.
