Nobodies can have hearts just because of how much build up went in to it and how much fore shadowing led up to it from the moment nobodies were a thing. It was something that was staring us in the face for so long and everybody was coming up with theories to justify the behaviour of Roxas and Co. because there was no way they didn't have real emotions. The pay-off for a plot twist has rarely been that sweet.

My favorite KH plot twist was the scene in Dream Drop Distance after finishing Symphony of Sorcery where Mickey and Yen Sid were discussing about if Master Xehanort knew what they were planning about Sora and Riku's mark of mastery exam. Then Yen Sid said that if Master Xehanort knew about their plan then he would've been there at Destiny Island at the exact same place and time just before Destiny Island was swallowed by the darkness. Then he said the only way to do that he must have a version of himself at the exact destination, but he also said that Master Xehanort himself can't even transport his whole body through time and space. Until Mickey discover that Master Xehanort did in fact gave up his body and became a version of himself while possessing Riku. That scene made my mouth drop because I didn't even expect that to happen. So to me learning that Riku being possessed by Ansem SoD was a version of Master Xehanort is my favorite plot twist.

Apprentice Ansem actually being the merger of Xehanort and Terra was really surprising. Probably my favourite one.

Kairis heart inside sora is just such a perperfect and sweet twist just think about it sora could not wait to tell kairi all about what he has seen and learned in hos travels but he dosent have to because she was there. Also the feelings these two have for one another only became stronger after that.

Coming in second is the twist that ansem Kh1 whom we assumend was just a regular scientist is the master of darkness because him became to obsessed with the heartless

There are many plot twists in this series that I love, but one of the most awesome ones is the true goal of Organization XIII! Before Dream Drop Distance, I had just thought of Xemnas and the Organization as people who wanted to become whole again, and that's why they wanted to create Kingdom Hearts, so that was understandable, ya know? Sure, they were going about it the wrong way, but they wanted to be people again!  But come Dream Drop Distance, we get that fabulous tidbit that the real goal of the Organization all along has been to gather up 12 vessels to fill with darkness so that they could be given the heart and mind of Xehanort! A plan like that is sure to make anyone immortal! That, and gaining the power of Kingdom Hearts, is crazy! So that was an excellent twist!  And the fact that Xemnas and Xigbar were always aware of the true purpose of Organization XIII was another great twist!

Second place would be The Land Of Departure being Castle Oblivion! When the moment came and Aqua had to seal away the Land Of Departure, when I saw what it transformed into, my jaw dropped, and I was like: "SO THAT'S CASTLE OBLIVION!?" My 15 year old mind was shattered and surprised at this! xD

There are so many amazing plot twists in this series! Way too awesome! X_X

Definitely the ansem wasn't ansem twist especially sora's reaction "u mean we spent all that time fighting an imposter (looking all disappointed) . Also the xehanort in terra's body twist seemed to be figured out WAY before the game released. I even remember at least 5 videos on YouTube with the "terra is xehanort" theory.

Kairis heart inside Sora.

I did not see that coming on my very first KH1 playthrough.

Terranort...because holy crap, seeing that for the first time...

Kairi's heart inside Sora. It's really sweet when you get down to it, and if you look back, you can clearly see them hinting at it for most of the game. It's a nice simple plot twist that anyone can follow, whether they've been following this series or not. Everything else that followed...well, you kind of have to be a true fan to have patience with all of that.

i said "Kairi's heart being inside Sora" because it wasn't too far out of a twist and you could pick up on it happening on a second playthrough. wasn't a twist that didn't make any sense.

i also enjoyed the twist that Land of Departure was Castle Oblivion, just for the fact that i did not expect BBS to connect to Chain of Memories at all. totally came out of left field but was still a twist i liked.

most of DDD's twists feel like cheap shots tbh

Ansem not actually being Ansem. Why? Solely because Mickey made it comedic. Seriously, I loved his line.

"He wasn't really Ansem. He just went around telling everybody that he was!" xD

Also because it expanded the plot further.

Peace!

Re:Com has such a good story so I have to say the best twist was Riku being a replica and also Axel using Repliku to kill Zexion

None. Plot twists are such a cheap writing tool unless they're done perfectly, and no KH game ever has for me.

I will say though from a visual perspective, the reveal of Vanitas' face to be Sora's was pretty neat. Narratively it's bullshit, but it's really cool imagery all the same.

I'm not sure. They're all good in their twisted ways. Hehe, get it?

Chain of Memories is one of my top 3 games in the series.  So, when I found out that Castle Oblivion had huge plot relevance, my jaw dropped.

I was thinking between Land of Departure is Castle Oblivion and Lea getting a Keyblade.

I'll go with Lea. Because he was just standing there talking about it and then suddenly BAM. Everyone was like "whoa!" :D

I can't choose one! Although I think Axel and the other Organization members coming back to life as Somebodies should get a mention. We thought they were gone for good!

"Maybe it's in the snap of the wrist or somethin- Oh."

It just happened so casually and unexpectedly I thought it was hilarious xD

The creation of Terra-Xehanort. Really think about it, if BBS was set in the most distant past at the time of its release, why was Xehanort an old man yet his Heartless and Nobodies are younger in Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II respectively? It was really puzzling to me until I seen the revelation of "Ansem".

Definitely land of departure= castle oblivion, first time i saw that I was genuinely like "wait what?!?!" It literally came out of nowhere.

The Nobodies actually have hearts is the one that surprised me the most; the other twists weren't really that surprising for me.

It's more than one, despite I can only vote for one.

1. Nobodies do have hearts and Xenmas LIED to them.

2. The true motive of Organization XIII and their future plans.

3. Xehanort in Terra's body, thus the whole "Apprentice Xehanort" thing, which connects towards to Ansem SoD and Xenmas, and--you get the connection.

4. Castle Oblivion WAS Land of Departure "locked away", and only Aqua knows how to travel in there VS SDG, R&M, and the Organization.

5. Xion's Identity.

That's why I LOVE this doggone series to death! So many backstories, plot explanations, the whole firetrucking lore!
