Honestly, why does Kingdom Hearts have to continue past Kingdom Hearts III? People will get bored with the series. Having the HD remasters released ahead of KH3 is a fantastic move, and I can't wait for them. But honestly if the series ended with the HD ReMIXes and KH3 I'd be happy. The series should have the right ending. What honestly what are they going to do after KH3? I don't want to see the KH series lose it's magic with KH4 or KH5. It's not like Final Fantasy which has a separate world/story for every number. The countless side stories have hurt it's reputation enough, now with the HD ReMIXes and KH3's announcement the magic is as strong as it has been since KH2FM. But is a KH4 worth the risk?

 

Tetsuya Nomura said it himself, he never thought it would last ten years. So why must it last twenty+?

I think if it does continue, it should be all new characters, and a completely different time setting. Perhaps set a century or more after the end of KHIII? That way it won't feel like they're trying to force a new story for Sora. I mean, give the kid a break!   A new saga with a completely clean slate. I like that idea.

I agree completly with you.  I want a solid ending that wraps up the 10+ yyear series.  I don't want a cliffhanger leading into another game.

If Nomura has more to expand on then he has every right to make another saga. I don't want the series to end but I do want the next saga done right. Kingdom Hearts III shouldn't have to be the last one, just because people want it to be some sort of spectacular ending or something and then be done with the series. I've seen far too many comments on the internet that have been like, "announce KH3 so this series can end already" (Although these comments have disappeared since KH3 was announced) I would never demand something so that it can end. I want to see more of my favourite characters, it probably won't become Final Fantasy in which there is a million games but you have to give the next saga a chance.

 

I personally don't think that KH3 will end on a cliffhanger, they'll wrap up the Xehanort saga and then have something after the credits that will probably lead into the next saga, but it won't be major.

Kingdom hearts is squares second attempt at a prolonged title franchise, it will most likely not end for quite some time,just may be toned down a little

Especially because you have creative teams practically making complete new worlds for you, even if you don't choose to use them.

I think he said that in an interview or something very similar to what I said.

Although I do agree, I would like for them to adopt a little bit of something from the Final Fantasy franchise, and just forget everyone else that has been in the past series and make a completely new game, but with some cameos or something from the past games. Sora will have to be like 27 yrs in the next games for them to make any sense. I think this is why the Final Fantasy series has made it so far. 

But now honestly, I CANNOT just forget KH when KHIII comes out. Kingdom Hearts is the only story I have ever truly loved from a video game, besides LoZ.

I think KH3D was slightly more important than Kingdom Hearts II because, well, it told us that most of the stuff that we learned in KH2 was just a sham.

Yes. KH3D was NOT a sidestory, even though it was on a portable gaming console. I think it was one of the most important games in the series.

Exactly.

I want to see where the series goes after 3. Though at this very moment I truly want Sora's story to end with KH III and us getting a new protagonist. Not because I dislike Sora, but because I feel that the character should be able to get a rest. I don't know why, but even with all this set up I can't think of KH III as an end for the entire series. I know KH III hasn't came out yet, but to me it feels like there is something missing, another tale that needs to be told.

Honestly, if I had to choose one other character to lead another story that has already been created, I would like it to be Riku.

Maybe it should, maybe it shouldn't. For some people the magic won't end at KH3 and they'll continue to be happy with whatever comes their way in the KH series. Nomura's tested and created many things already with the series and he probably has more he wants to do in the future. We may think it's bad or we may think it's good, but he at least tried right? This is something for them to decide anyway, not us. I'll always be excited to see KH trailers and such, no matter how long or short of a time it decides to continue ^^

I honestly don't want it going past KH3. But seeing the complete change in Game Style, I can see more games like KH3 in the future. It'd be weird to have KH3 be so completely different from all the other games and not have anything else like it later.

I agree, most good stories that go on too long like Supernatural or Pokemon eventually become less interesting and pointless. It would be best to end it at kh3

It should end at KHIII. When we do get the game and if the ending is really good then it should be the end.

Because Kingdom Hearts fans don't want to see it end and Square Enix will take advantage of it IMO.

 

No one really knows.

There's at least one other tale for Sora. The legend from KH says that the true light will restore the world as it was before and I don't think this will be done in KH3. So I'm okay with another saga centering on the restoration of the original world.

Well I don't know. I could use a few more games to clear things up. I still have lots of questions.
