When I first played Kingdom Hearts II in September 2006 (never played or heard of Kingdom Hearts before playing it.) I thought Roxas was the main character and had no idea what was going on.

 

I stopped playing it when I reached Disney Castle and didn't play it again till January 2007. In the mean time I completed Kingdom Hearts twice. First on Normal than on Expert. I deleted my old file and started a new game for Kingdom Hearts II in January 2007.

I knew Roxas wasn't the main character when I played, but I really hoped that SE made more parts to play as him.

I've never even played the first Kingdom Hearts, the first game I played was Days. So for me, Roxas WAS the main character

I'd like to think he is the main character lol. Just wishful thinking, although Sora is pretty awesome too.

Still haven't played it? I would advise buying it. Its worth it for sure.

I knew Sora was the main character by looking at the box art and noticing how he was up front and Roxas was somewhere near the back. That, and I had accidentally spoiled myself beforehand about pretty much everything that happens in that game.

Aww.. when I clicked on this, i was really expecting you to say that you actually aren't Australian.

 

My friend and I made the same mistake. However, it was the GameStop worker's fault. We bought KH1, but he gave us the disc to KHII, so we had no idea what was going on, since none of the characters on the cover were matching up with the ones we were seeing on the game.

I've actually heard that before so others have thought that too.

I never thought that though. I started with kh1.

That's not that sad. I can totally see how that would be confusing though.

I played kh1 and got stuck in Traverse Town for months, cuz I never knew I must do the trinity in the Alleyway. I stopped playing it when I heard about KH2, I went playing kh2 and thought that Roxas is Sora, I also thought they gave Tidus, Wakka and Sehphie a new design( Hayner, Pence, Ollete), later I got stuck in Disney Castle( never knew I can go out of the world), then I got stuck in Demyx for weeks, Xaldin for days and then I've beaten the game.

Then, I went back to KH1 and finished it, later I started watching Sora fighting another organization members on Youtube, I was shocked about how I never fought them, until later I knew about KH2FM, then I knew that Marluxia and the others were defeated in another KH game, then I realized that there was khCOM.

After it I knew about Re:COM and existing of KH1FM.

In the end I started understanding the story and started knowing everything in KH, later I read about three new kh games at once(Coded, 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep), and I started knowing everything on it time after it.

I knew Roxas wasn't the main character, but I was really confused(had no knowledge of what went down in Chain of Memories, and KH1 because I only played a small portion of KH1 prior to picking up KH2)

 

I just kept thinking what happened to that spiky haired dude that hangs with donald and goofy? Is Roxas the Sora of this town? Is Olette the new Kairi? Is Hayner the new Riku? lol and then Pence was just that fat kid that was just there lol >_>

 

Little did I know I wasn't too far off with the whole is Roxas Sora thing.

Haha my brother had the same thought too until I reminded him that Sora is the main protagonist of KH2.

I did the same thing. I remember getting really pissed whenever I finished Roxas's story. Probably why I still don't like Sora to this day, haha.

Wow I did this too. I saw the trailer for Kingdom Hearts 2 and i was going to buy both KH 1 and 2. Sadly at the shop i was in I couldn't find the first game so i just said screw it and bought KH2.

 

I was so confused about the story but thanks to the flashbacks Roxas was having and common sense I was good. I could already tell sora was the MC because of the cover and the opening CG. Reallly the only thing i had a trouble grasping was the story of Roxas and what happend to Sora after KH1.

 

Going back and playing KH1 and Re:com AFTER I beat KH2 I think actually helped me understand the series alot more than i would have if i played KH1 first. I guess im weird like that.

The first game I KH game I played was 358/2 days, so I thought Roxas was the main character too.

In my case, sometimes I went to visit a friend who liked KH, and I saw him playing KH2, however when the first time I played the game, I was confused because I saw Sora in action in KH2, but Why I have to play first with Roxas?  

I fortunately didn't play KHII first, lol. I played KHI when it first came out, but it's funny to see how some people thought Roxas was the main character.

Yeah, KH2 was the first game I played. But since I had played in a friend's house (that's how I got to know the series) I knew there was another character, that was actually Sora . Those were good times. Noob times.

I played first Kingdom Hearts 2 and i had NO IDEA what was happening. I got a bit confused cuz i thought that they killed the main character as soon as we started!

KH first-timers ALL thought Roxas was the main character.
