Kingdom Hearts III Sora Play Arts Kai releasing January 30, 2017; box contains KH3 story teaser

Featured Replies

A new Play Arts Kai of Kingdom Hearts III Sora, to be released on January 30, 2017, is now available for pre-order at the North American branch of the Square Enix Store at $149.99 retail price. The figure displays Sora in his Kingdom Hearts III outfit wielding an unnamed keyblade that was previously featured in the trailer released during E3 2015. Pictures are shown below.

A description of the figure follows:

From the latest chapter in the globally beloved KINGDOM HEARTS series by Disney and Square Enix, KINGDOM HEARTS III, the protagonist Sora now makes an appearance to the Play Arts Kai action figure line!

Accompanying the improvements in the graphic technology of the game, our designers have paid close attention to expressing the minute details in the sculptwork of Sora in his slightly more mature and grown-up figure.

The costume design is based on the look of Sora’s KINGDOM HEARTS II outfit, with the predominantly red and black color scheme of KINGDOM HEARTS 3D: DREAM DROP DISTANCE.

He is highly poseable due to the utilization of flexible materials. The Keyblade that can change form into a double crossbow – which could be called the trademark of this title — is also included as an accessory part. With all these features and more, this figure is certainly an eagerly awaited collector’s item for fans.

Figure includes display stand.

The Play Arts looks better than the actual game.

But in any case, this better come out in Europe because the Riku Play Arts STILL hasn't come out in Europe.

It's pretty cool that Sora new Keyblade is Starlight.

Seriously though, can I just gush about how freakin good this looks? The others have been good, but they really nailed the face this time around.

At this point, there's too many Kingdom Hearts III related things going on for the game not to be released then!

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY SQUARE!

I need this on my life... (And a Noctis Play Arts Kai)

It's pretty cool that Sora new Keyblade is Starlight.

It hasn't been confirmed that that keyblade is Sora's new keyblade or if that's Starlight

OMG I WANT THIS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAD!! Like, I've never truly wanted a Play Arts Kai because they are so expensive and I really didn't care that much, but DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG. But the thing is, I don't want to buy it and then when KH3 gets a collector's edition they put one in there as well with other things.

Oh god this is beautiful! YES, I MUST GET THIS!! Though it might be a while, I typically get my figures at a yearly convention, but they'll probably have dozens of these online so I wouldn't worry too much.

Also, I really love how Sora's build just looks that much more mature. I know that he's still technically supposed to be the same as KH2 Sora, but I wouldn't be surprised if he at least gained a little bit of height and maybe a tiny bit more muscle mass, he just looks at least 12% more adult than his previous form.

Yeah, it's just a featured Keyblade they used to show off the transformations in the game. In case you haven't noticed, several other play arts kai figures are packaged with various different Keyblades, that doesn't mean this is any different. It'd be kind of redundant to keep releasing the same Kingdom Key Keyblade in various Play Arts Kai II figure sets. Plus this looks WAY different than Starlight, it's like just a new Keyblade with a similar star theme. I'm betting they'll call it "Shooting Star" or something...you know, cause it can shoot stars at enemies? Kind of obvious.

So dang expensive tho ;_; Are all Play Arts figures this pricey?

Unfortunately, yes. Worse still is that they go out of production rather quickly, and only raise in price. I think Roxas goes for well over $300 now.

EDIT: I should add that it's the case for all Play Arts KAI figures. Regular play arts isn't nearly this bad, but they're not of as high quality.
