i have a theory about it that i dont know if ill post on the site. Basically, i think this keyblade is an evolution from the keyblade war era starlight keyblade, and sora got it in the same manner young xehanort got his no name keyblade. That would make sense as to why sora is the one to fight xehanort in KH3.

That's actually not a bad theory. It does kinda remind me of the starlight

Now this is clever promotion. Happy Anniversary Final Fantasy.

This is the pose btw. It'd be funny if Cloud attempts this in KH3 as a reference to FF7 and then Sora tries to copy him, thus referring to this screenshot.

That looks amazing. I love how they did this. Obviously, they're not gonna release a KH3 trailer anytime soon (I mean, come on, it hasn't even been a week since 2.8 released out of Japan), yet they release this beautiful 'teaser' image. Really well done.

Soooo dope, But I've gotta say they're really promoting that new keyblade. Is that supposed to be his new default?

Actually, a theory I've seen is that this is an Aqua-based Keyblad, that Sora gets after meeting Aqua who, according to the theory, is rescued early in the game. It does look like Brightcrest, which is the base of this theory, and there's a tradition in KH and KHII of Sora getting a Keyblade for each major original character connected to him: Oblivion, Oathkeeper, Bond of Flames, and Two Become One.

Is it just me, or does Sora's new Keyblade look a bit different from what was originally shown?  I remember seeing a cloth that either hung or wrapped around this star-themed Keyblade when the early development images were first revealed.  Either way, this new Keyblade looks awesome, almost a fusion of Brightcrest and Star Seeker.

This is beautiful. I really hope FF VII has some kind of shout out to KH in response, but I won't hold my breath too much. Still, this is really awesome. I still find it a bit weird that they promote Sora with that new Keyblade so much as opposed to the Kingdom Key, but I'm willing to look past that for the sake of the homage here. Plus, the Kingdom Key probably wouldn't have as much length and girth to it as the Buster Blade like this one does.

I know this isn't technically KH3 news, or even anything all that "new" from what we've seen so far (Sora, in his new clothes, with one of several new Keyblades, in the Mysterious Tower, kind of used to it at this point), but the nature of it is so admirable that it feels like a nice first step of content that we might get this year. In the end, I guess it's also a calling card to be ready for whatever KH3 and FF VII news we might be getting in the months to come. They may not release this year but an anniversary is still a great year for showing off trailers and generating hype, so I guess we'll see what's in store for us this year.

Nice to see a picture, since they've obviously improved on the materials and textures since the last trailer we got. Sora's pockets for example.

It's the same keyblade as in the trailers. Just a bit Graphic improvements. (:

I'm not just saying this because I'm a KH fan but I genuinely believe, based on this, that KH3 is going to be the best looking game that will release for the PS4, period.
