I often find myself remembering that we don't play KH for it's story, especially due to the woeful writing and overusage of the words "Light" and "Darkness". We play it for the gameplay, which is saddening in a sense because, for as absurd as the world of KH is, there are many interesting parts to it.

Nero Kunivas repliedI would if I were capable of ignoring the faults in the writing, but as time passes they become more and more apparent. KH.2.8 seems to have solidified that for me as, in 2017, it still has the same writing style and faults the series had in 2002.
Shimmy repliedKH's writings has a lot of flaws but if I may be entirely honest I find that to be the fun part. I think it's just a bunch of dumb fun and it's enjoyable to get lost in the madness- that being said I understand and value critiques against it's writing. It IS heavily flawed, although- dare I say- maybe that's what makes it enjoyable in the first place? But thats just me.
Nero Kunivas replied@Shimmy So bad it's good, indeed. I do find it fun in that regard, but yet...I find it pitiful at the same time. This obscene premise they have here, it holds potential despite how ridiculous it is, yet they don't use it.
Mystics Apprentice repliedYou do have a point. I loved the story until KH2, and then I felt that things went crazy and contradictory. For me it has always been about the characters and not so much the story. There are some parts of the story that I love, but some of it's just there and not as rich as I feel it could be.
Nero Kunivas replied@Mystics Oh, absolutely! Character-wise, they hit the nail on the head with particular examples. Ignoring certain bits of dialogue, people like Axel, Xemnas, Aqua, Roxas, they're as alive as a character can be. If anything, these people are a step in the right direction that Nomura hasn't seen.
I mean come on. Axel's enough of a fan favourite that death literally means nothing to him.
HarLea Quinn repliedI like it but I hate the ill planned use of time travel and the constant retcons. Except for Chi/UX I can get past most issues I have with the plot. I kinda liked BC so that helped.

Shulk repliedIs there anything wrong with playing games for the gameplay? If I just wanted story then I'd watch a playthrough or something like that. Gameplay is what I consider most important in a game, if I'm not having fun then I don't want to spend hours playing through it just for the occasional cutscene. Not to say I don't appreciate a good story, I'm a writer and all, but I want to have fun when I play something.

Nothing wrong at all with playing games for gameplay.

LuxuXehanort repliedI got refunded for a physicsl copy of kh 2.8 i'm getting it digitally instead. I'm pretty sureits just that my card/paypal is flagging play asia for fraud so a simple call saying that its a legit purchasefromand to let it go through shoukd fix it.
