Too many preoccupations. Maybe when Xehanort is gone, but I don't see the story going very well if they try to shove a girlfriend plot element on Riku so suddenly like that. It would split the focus of the game too much.

Nope, I don't see that it would fit, not in this saga.

Tacking on a romantic subplot at the last minute is a bad move. Riku doesn't really need romance, given KH's emphasis on friendship and how there are more important issues at hand. A love interest wouldn't add to his character in ways Sora and Kairi don't already fulfill. Plus there's the matter of who it'd be: an established character the shippers have already been killing to see (but settle on one pairing, piss off fans of the other three), or a new character the players haven't heard of before. Introducing a new character simply to fulfill some romance quota is poor storytelling and it'll enrage many fans, including myself.

Nope, nope, nope, nope nopity, nope.... I mean he can have a ¨love interest¨ at the very most. Lets say Their is an original character in KHIII that is female and compliments Rikus personality, than it can be played on as a joke or tease, but never dating.... Sora and Kairi aren't even going to be ¨together¨. Them being together is very unlikely...

As much as I would like to see Riku paired up with somebody, I don't think he necessarily "has" to have a girlfriend. I mean, he's just as cool as a solo stud, and he's just as strong and inspirational as a character who's sole motivation is friendship. It isn't "necessary" for him to have a girlfriend. That being said, doesn't mean that he would be any less cool if he did get one. All I would really care about would be that the character herself (or himself, you never know. ;3 LOL, JK, it's Disney ) can hold her own and be a strong enough character by herself. She would need to have more of an identity beyond "Riku's girlfriend". Like how Kairi is her own character with her own strengths, this hypothetical character should be her own person as well.

 

Plus, I'd much rather see SoKai become official before anyone else get's paired up anyway. For all we know, Nomura will keep playing the friendship card, teasing us for all eternity.

Adding in a character for no purpose aside from romance would just be ridiculous, honestly. He doesn't need a girlfriend in KHIII, and I don't get why so many people want that.
