    Of Olden Times and Reflections

Good evening all. I don't know how many of you here on this platform remember, or even know me, as this site has changed drastically from when I became a member. Two, I have been absent from the site for a number of different reasons. Tonight, I just felt like getting some things off my chest, things that I've wanted to say for a very long time, so bare with me, this could get a bit long. I became a member of this site way back in 2014. This past Jan. 3rd was the 5 year anniversary of my membership here. I remember with deep fondness and joy the first 2 years of my membership here. I was a recent KH player, as I had gotten the first game a few years before I found this site. The wonder of KH was still new to me and sent my mind racing with imagination. I loved, and still love the greater KH community deeply. Within the first year of my becoming a member here, I met one of my most dearest friends in the world, Amber Cole. She no longer comes to this site, but her and I have become like sisters and have grown close over the years. I also met Austin Caudill, whom some ppl may remember on this site as Jack Sparrow. Interestingly, he and Amber got together and they are now dating and have been for a few years and Austin has become the little brother I never had. Through being connected to the KH community on this site, I also met my future love, Jeremy. People here would know him as soravids. We've been dating for 2 and a half years now and I pray for many more to come. But, while as a daily regular on this site in the early years of my membership here, I met several ppl whom I considered my friends. The likes of Ruby Rose, Danex Darkfire+, Geralt, Kunivas, and several others. I remember spending literally hours a day in private and public chats just horsing around with them and creating all kinds of random adventures and crazy posts. I still look on those days and laugh. I still feel that fun loving joy I had with them, and I miss them all very deeply. I wish so much I could go back to those fun days. But, things change. I won't go into to detail to keep the privacy of some who may still be members of this site, but some things happened between me and a few members. Some of them I considered my friends. I had a massive falling out with them almost 3 years ago. I was angry, I was hurt deeply and I was sad. Ever since that day, I stopped coming to the site daily. That soon turned into weeks, which then turned into months. Life for me passed and soon it became years. Oh I would pop in every now and then to check up on news and maybe say hi to one or two old friends who I still try to keep in touch with, but since the falling out, the magic of KH13, and the KH community on this site, died for me. Nothing was or even is the same anymore. I feel so disconnected from this site and the community at large. And it sucks. It sucks hard. I feel like enough time has passed that I would like to come back regular to the site again, but I've been so out of the personal loop on this site that I'm not sure how much of the makeup of this community has changed. I know for a fact there are still some ancient members that come here and are even admins still, but the general makeup of the site is what I may not recognize. I feel like for me, if I do return to daily visits, it'd be like joining the site for the first time all over again. But in hind sight, that may not be a bad thing at all. I know I would be considered old now by a majority of the KH13 body (I'm 28 ), but hey, I know that the general KH community don't judge, and that's part of the sweet magic of the community. All are welcome, no matter what. And who knows? Starting a new journey may not be so hard. I get to make new friends and start over again. Maybe even reconnect with the old ones. Guess I should "face my fears" and jump in again. What's driving me back is really the start of the new Kingdom Hearts arc. I realized after KH3 came out that a brand new generation of Dandelions just swelled the KH ranks. And the possibilities of the new direction the series will take has been busted wide open! I'd love to debate and chat and theorize about these new ideas again. I really do miss coming to this site on the daily so freaking much! So yeah. If you made it this far in, thanks for listening to my ramblings. XD I didn't mean for it to be this long, but I just felt like I had to say something. Hope you guys got something out of it, and I look forward to the future with the Kingdom Hearts franchise. May your heart be your guiding key.

Hello there I'm Mr. Caputo. Italian indie artist and fan of pizza. Nice to meet you all! Hope we can have a good journey and a nice chat ^^ I started to play KH1, Chain of Memories and the second. Forgot to play the other titles. So i'm gonna take back the whole missing chapters and understand what's going on with the entire plot! Can't wait to collect the whole chapters of this magic saga!

It's very different from 2014 KH13 and now. It seems like a lot of new faces pop up with every topic XD. I'm sorry that stuff happened to you and I know that pain a lot in just real life. I used to never be active on here other than lurking but now I'm posting at least weekly which is huge XD It makes me feel more apart of the community than before. Happy to see you again ^-^ I'm an oldie (joining back in 2014 actually XD) and I remember seeing ya around.

As a fellow older member I relate to how difficult it is to come back. I think 2014 was the peak for my activity here, too, and I have a lot of fond memories of kh13 from that time period... I never really had the courage to talk to people or get to know them better, but even then there was this sense of community that I miss... Not that there isn't anymore, but it's just different, and I don't really recognize people anymore. So for a long time I just wasn't very active here, because it just didn't feel the same. I've tried to be more active lately, too. And you know what? I think I'm rediscovering my love for this place. It's different for sure, but if you can move past that, it's still a lovely community. Maybe more quiet, but lately I feel like more members have been active again. Probably because of KH3, but I really hope it stays this way even as we move further from KH3's release. I don't really know what I'm trying to say, but if you decide to become more active here again, welcome back. It's always nice to see older members around, because there aren't that many here anymore. You probably don't remember me, but I remember seeing you around here a lot back then.

Seeing that It got me thinking about the hints they may have dropped towards the conclusion of 3. After rewatching it, some things are still unclear. For example, it’s still unclear if there was an actual traitor among them or if the MoM was just f***ing with them in order for his plan to come to fruition. Additionally, I guess things are still unclear because KH3 was simply the end of the Xehanort saga, but I’m interested, going forward to see if Back Cover will become clearer. Did anyone else rewatch it as well? Did you have some of the same questions I did or did you walk away with some answers that I didn’t? Would love to hear your thoughts! Your fellow Keyblade wielder, Yuki08

Hiya. I'm Rintron. For a bit of time now, I've been fiddling with something, and right now I finally am ready to start doing it. Namely, would it be okay to post my currently-in-the-works recordings of KH3 cutscenes with FLAC 5.1ch surround audio (6 channels of sound) for those interested? And if yes, which section of the forum? I recently got myself a capture card that can do lossless video, and just a moment ago I started recording the cutscenes at high framerates (though 1080p only oh woe is me). I decided to finally register on a KH forum, and since I often visit this site for news then EHHH why not. The recordings are going to be 60fps (though the KH3 cutscenes run at halft that, 30 fps). Though I'm not doing actual lossless, because uploading that would kill me. MKV with h264 and FLAC 5.1ch audio. The surround is captured as DTS through a optical cable into my external sound card. Optical can't do LPCM or any of those ULTRA HD audio formats, but I opted to reencode into FLAC with Audacity because hey, at least it will not degrade over time. : P I currently have the Prologue cutscene ready to go. Since there's a spoiler policy still in effect from what I see, that's all I'm gonna say. I could start uploading as I go tho'. I just need to know if I can post them and which part of the forum would be best. That would be all. I hope we can all be bffs. : >

Wow, that is crazy! So much has happened over the past few years, it's hard to think that we've already come this far in life, eh? But yes, I definitely remember a time when this site was teeming with life, and there were bountiful and endless members left and right. And well, the community was bustling all the time. It's not that it isn't anymore, but like you said, things have most definitely changed. As do all things in life. Ever since I moved to the US, my life has gotten busy to the point that I'm not able to come online daily anymore, hence I only show up once a week or whenever I get the chance. And it sucks, because I used to log in here daily to post in the community and chat with my friends. But one has to be attentive to one's responsibilities, so it's all a part of growing up. Kingdom Hearts and this website will forever and always be a part of my life, and so long as I live, I will always log in here, no matter how much or how little. But I do hopefully want to be able to make it a habit to come online daily again, even if just for an hour. Hopefully I can make the time soon. But yes Alicia, I feel ya, and like you said, a new saga will bring forth a legion of new fans, so we, the old guard, can welcome the new bloods and enthrall them in the magic that is Kingdom Hearts! And well, I think that's something we can brag about, that we were here when the website had its old guard, and we can say we are present for the new blood! May our hearts be our guiding key! Stay awesome, and know you'll always have a friend in me!

That sounds fantastic! I'd be all down for it, honestly! Time will tell what will happen in the future! At least we know that the future of the series is shining bright due to the success of Kingdom Hearts III!

I knew Xigbar wasn't dead. His body didn't turn back to darkness and he was far to involved in the series to be killed right now. If there weren't so many "Xigbar is MoM" or "Xigbar is insert character name" theories floating around this might have surprised me. Instead while I wasn't surprised, I got a good chuckle out of it. I don't mind it at all because it means he's sticking around and playing a big role in the next saga. And I couldn't be happier about that. The clever little sneak

Kingdom Hearts III: the game that everyone has been waiting for, but no one thought was ever going to actually be made. Finally, it is here, but was it worth the wait? When I first finished the game, I would have had to say, “No.” However, now that I have taken some time to process my thoughts and play through the game again with adjusted expectations, I can see that my disappointment came from the fact that it was never going to live up to the hype. So, now that I can see the game for what it is and not what I wanted it to be, I am finally posting my review of Kingdom Hearts III. The gameplay was fun, and it provided us with more options than ever before. However, I found myself relying mostly on hitting X, casting magic, and using Situation Commands. The rest of the options didn’t seem that useful to me (except for Airstepping, which I found really useful, but I kept forgetting I could use). Flowmotion was nerfed, which I appreciated, but I also felt like it was nerfed to the point that I never used it unless I had to reach an area that I couldn’t reach by just jumping. I didn’t find any of the Link Summons other than Simba worth using. The attractions were disappointing, and it was one of the things that I was looking forward to the most too. There aren’t many different attractions, and you can’t choose which ones you use. In addition, they take you out of the battle, especially since the music changes in most of the battles when you use one. The only one I found myself using, again and again, was Splash Run. I liked Mountain Coaster the most, but it was only used in two battles and had very specific things happen during it, such as the Rock Titan attacking you while you flew around the mountain or massive amounts of Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed being taken out at one time whenever you attacked with it, which is probably why I liked it so much. The Keyblades are better than ever in this game. The Formchanges for the Keyblades makes every Keyblade useful in different ways, although some of them just reuse forms from other Keyblades, which seemed unnecessary since there aren’t that many Keyblades compared to previous games, and therefore, aren’t that many Formchanges. However, Formchanges are still fun. In addition to Formchanges, the ability to upgrade the Keyblades makes them feel even more useful. The cherry on top is the ability to switch between three of them at any time during the game. You can even have Formchanges or Finishers saved on the other two Keyblades that you have equipped that you are waiting for the right moment to use. I, admittedly, did not use this very often. However, unlike the other gameplay options, it’s not because I didn’t find it useful. It’s because I kept forgetting you could do that, or I liked the Keyblade I was currently using. It was the same with the Shotlocks. I didn't have a problem with them, but I kept forgetting that they were an option. The world specific gameplay was fun too. I loved using the Gigas in Toy Box and loved exploring the Caribbean and fighting enemy ships in the Leviathan (although collecting crabs to level up the Leviathan can get a bit tedious). I even enjoyed the underwater gameplay in the Caribbean. The Gummi Ship was better than ever. I loved the open map and the exploration element that they added. The cherry on top was the ability to exit battles. The Disney worlds, with the exception of 100 Acre Wood, are bigger and better than ever before. There was so much detail put into them, and the worlds actually felt lived in this time with the addition of way more NPCs. However, the original worlds were not as well done as the Disney worlds were. That being said, the worlds in Kingdom Hearts III overall are the best yet. The game is visually stunning, and the characters are a lot more animated in cutscenes. There were times when I felt like I was watching a movie with how the cutscenes were made. The dialogue is also the best it has ever been, and there were many moments that actually made me laugh this time (it felt like there weren’t a whole lot of those in previous games). However, there were moments when it felt like the cutscenes were going on for too long, and this wouldn’t have been too bad, except in most of those cutscenes, there was a lot of talking, but not a lot of action. However, that wasn’t enough to ruin the cutscenes for me. The music is the best in the series. The new tracks were amazing, most of the remixes of old tracks sounded even better than before, and I loved the mashups of different tracks that were used for many of the boss themes near the end of the game. Probably my favorite thing that was done with the music was that original music was scored for many of the cutscenes, which made the cutscenes feel even more like movies. There may not seem to be a lot of postgame content, but I still think that there is a lot there to keep you busy for a while. There are quite a few minigames to complete, including cooking with Little Chef and the Classic Kingdom minigames. There are plenty of chests, ingredients, and Lucky Emblems to find. There are many items to synthesize. There’s a lot to do in the Gummi Ship. Finally, there are Battlegates to complete once you beat the game. You can also play around with the camera on the Gummiphone and take some great pictures. However, my party members kept wandering into the picture I was trying to take, which got really annoying, especially since they would usually do so just as I lined up the perfect shot. The only thing that left me feeling disappointed about Kingdom Hearts III was the story. Nothing too significant happened until after you completed all of the Disney worlds, which made everything that happened after that feel a bit rushed since it had to wrap up ten games worth of story at the end of the game. The setup for future games made this game feel less like a finale and more like just another chapter in the story. Because of the rushed nature of everything after the Disney worlds were completed, every single character whose name wasn't Sora was given the short end of the stick in this game, although they did each have some amazing moments. Speaking of moments, this game had the best moments of any Kingdom Hearts game. There were amazing moments given to the characters (as I already stated) and epic moments that left my jaw on the floor and that made me think that no future Kingdom Hearts game could ever top what happened in this game. So, while the story could have been paced better, and while it could have done with less setup, it was still an amazing experience. In the end, Kingdom Hearts III is a fun game to play with the best visuals, worlds, and music of any Kingdom Hearts game that came before it. Not all of the gameplay options are great, but that did not make the game any less fun to play. Some of the cutscenes went on for too long, but that did not ruin them. The story has some issues, but the great moments in the story make it enjoyable nonetheless. Is Kingdom Hearts III the game that everyone wanted? No. Is it a good game nonetheless? Yes. I give Kingdom Hearts III an 8/10.

Ugh. I would just so rather play it on my PS4. I'm so tired of having to charge my phone every time I play. The game saps my battery like you wouldn't believe.

Not even Star Wars or Marvel have made their way into Kingdom Hearts yet. So I doubt you'll see Avatar there in a while. I have to be real here. Just because Disney owns something, doesn't mean it will ever make its way into Kingdom Hearts. Kingdom Hearts isn't Disney Infinity. It was never intended to be some hub for every single IP that Disney owns. Alien is an R rated horror movie, so you're not gonna see Xenomorphs in Disneyland, like ever. Maybe, (but even this is highly unlikely) just maybe you'll see some reference to it in Hollywood studios as some kind of merch. But that's about it. Disney has always been about keeping their parks PG. I can totally see Wolverine and other X-men making their way into the Avengers, though. Post-endgame MCU is open to a lot of possibilities in that regard.

I know that KHIII is technically the end of the Xehanort Saga, but I really hope we'll get some more info on his and Eraqus' history. There's still so much we don't know. So I hope you're right and he'll be expanding on the lore in the future.

I guess it was a coincidence. I have seen Christmas simplified to XMas because I guess the X is short for Christ or something.
